WiFi usage or walkie talkie for Camp Carnival

We have a 9 year old daughter who will be going to Camp Carnival. She will be able to sign herself in and out and we would like to give her that freedom, but we know if she does, she will freak out and get very upset if she can not find us on the ship.

I want yo purchase walkie talkies for her to use when she signs herself out and only to find us (not to have conversations & annoy other passengers), but at same time, I know that reception with the metal on ship will be sketchy. Then I thought about purchasing the WiFi plan, so she can use chat on app to text us (we have cricket as a carrier and our phones won't work on open water). WiFi is expensive, but maybe worth it not to bother other passengers and our daughter can still contact us on ship.

Also does anyone know if there are cubbies or places to put belongings at camp carnival so she will not loose a cell phone/walkie talkie. Like I said, she will only be using it to contact us after signing out of camp. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thank you!
