Denali/Seward only

Agreed. However, our group was the only ones on the full shuttle bus to carry on a box lunch. Most just had a few snacks with them, some brought nothing. I was surprised. I did like having the cabins prepare our lunches because they drove us to breakfast, then picked us up an hour later with the lunches ready, and took us to the Wilderness Access Center for our tour. It was very convenient for our large group.

Additionally, you can either buy or rent a small soft-sided cooler at the WAC store, and they'll even throw in the ice. (We had chicken salad sandwiches in the box lunches from our B&B)

If you really want to meet the locals and see Alaska, skip Denali and head East to Valdez....Hop on one of the sightseeing/fishing charters (G'day charters is a great one, and there are others), spend the night on a boat, see glaciers, look at mountain goats, see what YOU want to see, pull up your very own shrimp pot, have fresh shrimp that you pulled right on the Barbie.....That is the way to see Alaska. BTW, the scenery to Valdez is much more stunning that going towards Denali....and you get to pass by the Matanuska Glacier....Take the kids climbing on the glacier...There are two very good guides...MICA and NOVA.....both very experienced with glaciers....and then go fishing and sightseeing....That is Alaska....all for the price on a hotel stay in Denali....:) PS Cruise ships don't go there, but a few high end tour buses do...so you will see a few tourists, but this would get you down and dirty with the real locals....:)
