bakcd Posted July 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2014 This is not our first time in Sydney and we will visit twice on our next trip. We have been to most of the tourist attractions and enjoyed walks through Sydney in the past. Our plans are to rent a car and visit Louisbourg one day and stay in town the other day. Is there a place to have lunch of lobster or fresh seafood, gluten free, in town?
maryann ns Posted July 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2014 I don't think gluten free would be a problem. Here are the TA restaurant listings for Sydney; http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurants-g154973-Sydney_Cape_Breton_Island_Nova_Scotia.html The Lobster Pound in North Sydney has great reviews: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurants-g181763-North_Sydney_Cape_Breton_Island_Nova_Scotia.html http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurants-g154973-Sydney_Cape_Breton_Island_Nova_Scotia.html The Route 5 bus would take you there: http://www.cbrm.ns.ca/transit.html
bakcd Posted July 23, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted July 23, 2014 Thank you. i will make note of the Lobster Pound. We will have a rental car so it shouldn't be a problem.
airheadfan Posted July 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2014 If you choose the Lobster Pound, make sure you make a reservation as it is not a large restaurant and it closes early - about 8:00 pm when I was there in late May. Many people taking the night ferry to Newfoundland are looking for a dinner place so it can get busy. It is a good choice for dinner and lives up to the reviews. Another very good choice is the Black Spoon - different food and atmosphere but also very very good.
bakcd Posted July 24, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Is it open for lunch? We will sail at 4:00 or 5:00 pm so lunch is our only option.

DaveyCaper Posted August 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks for the news about Flavor. They do not give their address or precise location. It is actualy located INSIDE the marine terminal building where the cruise ship dock. Also has an outside eating area. I am afraid I am not a seafood eater so I have not eaten there. Smack664 Posted August 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) Sorry about that, I didn't look that closely at the site! They also have a little lobster shack right outside and a canteen on the main floor of the cruise terminal. I don't know their hours but have heard they are open on days that ships are in port.
