I will need to write this in parts everytime I try to write this the site goes down so here we go ---

Embakation--We arrived in front of the Valor entrance about 11am we live in south florida so we had our brother inlaw drive us to the boat the day after our wedding and we got there a little later then we wanted because my brother inlaw locked the keys in or truck as he was packing our luggage in it so being we only had one key to that truck we had to do major surgery on the door and molding with hammers and jimmys to get the doors unlocked then we were on our way down I 95 to the pier..when we got to the dock we only checked 1 bag with the porters and rolled and carried the rest of our things with us because we bought a huge rolling suit case while we were in orlando in one of those tourest trap stores for 44 bucks it stands like 3 1/2 feet high its really big so we had three carry ons with our champagne and some emergency under garments just incase the other went awol on us ....Skippers club access was really great as we got into the building they put us in that room with 30 other guests and we by passed a line that had 200 people on it and iam sure glad we didnt need to get on that checkin line it really didnt look like any fun at all...after the skippers club processed our paper work and we got our sign and sail cards we proceeded to the line before you get on the boat that was very long and it was just a holding cell intill we were told we can board the ship and that took a good 40 minutes but then we were off on to the ship with everyone and that went smooth even though they took everyones pic before you get on board so the whole process from the parking lot to boarding took about 1 hour and 15 min only so it didnt seem to bad then i headed straight to the pursers desk and waited on a pretty long line like about 25 min to throw down 700 down on the sign and sail cards just for starters dropped bags off in the room #7268 on the empress deck and let me tell you this was right in the middle of it all 2 decks up from the ivanho entrance and 2 decks below the slide at the 9th so going 2 decks up and down on the stairs was a breez all week and not far from all i needed pretty much...also did i mention the room was already cleaned and very nice with the balcony facing port side ,and the utility room with the ice machine was 2 doors down so this was very cool i got my own ice for the champagne all week and put it in our soft cooler then i placed it in one of the 2 sinks in our bathroom then headed up to rosies for lunch.....

Lunch outside on the 9th deck outside of rosies we got some burgers and fries and a few things off the buffet and a few beers and hung out for like an hour intill we had our full and headed back to the room to unpack and then we took a walk to scarletts to check out the dining room and different parts of the boat and made a 8pm reservation for weds night and then we headed to the Spa and it was really empty so one of the girls there gave us a tour of the Spa and we booked after the tour all our massages for the week and we got 15% discount on all the massages we booked because we made our reservation right away with them so that was a pretty smart move because they are very expensive ,we did the couples massage and that was $221.00 after the discount plus we tipped 15% and then i booked a hot stone massage for friday for myself and that was $148.00 after the discount plus i tipped 15% so my discounts went to tips anywayz no biggy we were on our honeymoon and after every massage they try to get you to buy all that aromatics and oils that are supposed to be magical and extend your life and relax your muscles for $160 bath spriters and crap like that but we declined and said we will take our chances that we will survive without all that exotic stuff ...also the spa is new as can be everything looks real nice and clean and i checked out the saunas dry and wet and the whirlpool in the gym but the gym whirlpool is very small but everything really looks new and clean on the boat ...

The cabin---was very clean and nice and the first time we met our room stewart I gave him a 20 advance eventhough we pretipped all our tips when we booked our cruise and i told him we wanted 4 more pillows and 2 more blankets and we had them in about an hour later and he unlocked the mini bar so when we arrived at the cabin it was about 2pm so we had 2 hours before the muster drill so I filled the tub and took a nice jacuzzi bath we had a cat 11 room so it has a tub with jets very small but if you lay on your back you can do ok just hanging out and iam no little guy i can stand to lose 40 lbs as it is but i managed to make the best of it and i had a problem also with a ingrown toe nail that seems to creep up on me every 6-8 weeks so i have the tools at home to relieve this so now i was stuck with nothing to do the surgery i need to do to myself so i called the spa and they would not help me out and the gift stores were not opened yet to buy a cuticle cutter so then iam thinking what to do, then i found a gaget that was going to work was right in front of me the whole time and guess what it was ,it was the ice tongs with teeth at the 2 ends and i bent them up and walla i got to dig out my problem and had instant relief and felt like a lion who had a nail removed from its paw and started drinking a couple of champagnes and was in a better mood by then but then it was time for the muster drill and this was not fun ,they put everyone in 4 wide rows and its real hot and uncomfortable i cant imagine how it would go in case a real emergency it would be not a good seen but it finally ended and we went back to the room and dropped off the life jackets and went to rosies to see if the girls from my roll call were there but did not see them so i figured i was going to meet one of them in st thomas buy her pic from cruise critics but did not see her so that was that but anyway we went back to our room and the boat was leaving and we watched from our room balcony as we left miami and took my movie camera out and started filming as we were leaving then when we were out to sea in a half hour, and i took a nap before our 6:15 dinner seating ill continue later :)

We proceeded to the 6:15 dinner in the lincoln dining room we had table #122 its for 2 people and we had these 2 waiters from honduras forget their names but they were not happy people and were not very good at their jobs so after the first night we decided to change our dinner seating to the 8:30 seating and did ask to change to another table and they put us on the other side of the dining room at a table for 2 again, but this time with 2 other waiters Joe from Grenada and luisto from the phillipines and we ate with them mon tues, thurs.fri and saturday night and let me tell you they were great friendly and made our dining experience real nice and we tipped them 30 each during the week and they took care of us real well and we ordered anything off the menu we wanted 3 aps or 3 dinners and 3 desserts every night we shared everything my wife and I all week, and some of the food was great and some wasnt great but the variety was there the service on that side of the dining room was real good even a chinese barmaid waitress who i saw all the time in the casino was always there with drinks real fast for us and had no problems at all there and all the other staff were very friendly and stopped to talk to us after i noiticed some of them from other peoples pics of them from other cruises so thats the main dining room as far as breakfast------- we ate at rosies every morning and rosies is really done well with the lime chairs and the decor is perfect for all the sky widows with the light shining down and eating in there every morning with tons of variety was fun and gave you that vacation feeling in there we do miss it very much ...The tables were always cleaned right away and very plentyfull there was never a problem finding clean tables and silverware but sometimes the lines were a little long for the buffet and plates and trays were not turning over fast enough so you had to actually wait or search for plates or trays but we gave up on the tray searching the 2nd day and were happy just getting a plate----Sticking with food,, the hamburgers and the hot dogs and pizza were great, then there is the booth were you get sandwiches like rubens and stuff also great the desserts in rosies were pretty good and the variety seemed like endless when it came to cakes and desserts they had a juice foutain with oj mango and grapfruit all good for breakfast the coffee was good plenty of sugers and milks and creams for that, never a problem and always plenty of coffee cups to go round that was never a problem so if i had to rate rosies from 1-10 I would give it a 8 1/2 and there was plenty of people always cleaning that place up quick not like other people have mentioned......

Scarletts was top notch except for the coffee the night we went it was horrible like the worst we ever had in our lives and we gave them opportunitys to fix it but it didnt happen i guess they needed to change the filters on the coffee machines that purify the water otherwise the food they served was like eating at a Hilton or trump wedding ,we ate the filet migion and the lobster tail and ceasar salad was great my wife had onion soup and the desserts was just out of this world we ordered like 2 combo desserts they have and it was like having 6 things for dessert it was insane we had to go walk around the boat for a while after that then change out of our clothes into shorts just so we can breath normal LOL and this was on wendsday night after we were done with St Thomas and ill tune in on that now -----

St Thomas on weds was very nice we were booked for the 1pm BOB underwater excursion so when we got to the port we got off the boat after going thru the immigration thing that actually went pretty smooth and was organized very well and proceeded to the skyrail that we bought for $15.00 dollars each right on our TV in our room the night before the CD josh said if you dont use them you get a refund so we did it anyway and enjoyed that going to the top of the mountain and then you get out and you hike up the mountain about another 100 yards to the top look out were there is benches and lots of great spots for photos --be sure to take plenty of water and a sweat rag with you we are in our 40s and the hike is a slight challange but we made it with no problem a little huffing and puffing but the water and sweat rag are your best friend in this situation for those who did it you know what i mean .then when your done you hike down and can have a beer at the restaurant bar they have at the top of the sky rail with some great views of the out look point of the mountain looking down towards the ship, then we went back down actually went back to the ship to refresh ourselfs and went back off the ship at 1 pm to meet the people who run the BOB underwater excursion to be continued..

Well getting to the BOB excursion i would highly recommened this excursion its a great experience even for those who cant swim ,the guys who run this are really cool have a great sence of humor ,,by the way my wife lost our tickets for this and at 5 to 1 they let me run up to my room to find them with no avail i came back down and they made me sign a card that they were purchased and they found my reservation so the tickets really didnt mean anything ,they still let us go,,they took like 60 of us and we walked down the boardwalk in front of the ship and their boat was docked right there and we all boarded and took a 20 min ride to buck Island were they proceeded to Turtle Cove and they anchored and on the way they gave us our instructions on how this was going to go and we all took turns riding these under water scooters in a breathing bubble and as 1 team is going the other waiting teams get to go snorkleing ,they supplied all the equipment for this and they had juice and crackers for everyone and they take the crackers and feed the fish with you right there and they all come to your face to eat the crackers then if you bring a underwater camera or you can buy one from them for $20.00 like we did ,they will take your pic while the fish are eating around your face its real neat and worth every penny ,,,and on the way to buck Island i made a smart comment about something when the guy was doing his instructions and he made me come front and center and made me an attraction for everyone else that was there while i was rolling my 8 mm camera so everyone got a kick out of that and it was all in fun ,so it turned out to be a very humorous and fun day for everyone and they did not hesitate to tell everyone that they work for tips so they passed a jar around and had it out at the end after we were departing their ship ,,this cost me $228.00 for a couple and we gave a $20.00 tip and bought the camera from them and the pics came out real nice so that was the end of our St Thomas stop ----------

Also i skipped telling about Nassau it wasnt really a big deal that was monday we got off the boat and took a cab to the Atlantis and walked around there for a hour and a half and jumped back onto a cab ,,by the way $5.00 pp each way and there are plenty of locals tring to sell cab rides so there are plenty of those ,,then we came back to their straw market because the entire town was closed due to their Independence holiday and the staw market was kind of lame and then for the heck of it we went up to the hard rock cafe to have a look and a few beers and i spoke to the manager there for a while because my company supplies the hard rock cafes with glasswashers and we proceeded back to the boat ,and the boat leaves Nassau like 2pm so its a quick stop and really i dont know why they even bother stopping there its really a waste ,so i went to the Casino on the ship and entered the Slot tournament were i was in the finals but did not win the $500 because i picked the wrong machine at the end but it was all fun and the girl i think her name was Eva who ran all the casino tournanments was a doll and reallly got a kick out of me so i was in all the blackjack and slot tournrnments for the week and made the finals in everyone but never won the grand prize but i got a lot of hats key chains and a t shirt for trying so that was real fun for me to be continued---

let me tell you about St Maartin ------ we had a really great time here what we did is by reading all the reviews of some people we hired a private tour lady named Joyce Prince we contacted her about 4 months ago and made a reservation with her so we wanted to be sure she was available for us when we arrived ,she is a very nice person and knows the Island like the back of her hand she picked us up on the main road outside the duty free world there at the dock and she was there 7:30 am to pick us up and in advance she made us a reservation at the Rhino rider excursion, that you can buy on the ship but since she knows these people we got to go on the Rhino riders for half the price they charge on carnival and in return i was able to give her the difference for her time ,she was responsible for us for like 9 hours of the day she picked us up and dropped me and wifey at the rhino rider and these are the little raft boats that fit 2 people like a jet ski seat and they go real fast like 30 mph and you have a tour guide that takes like 4 boats at a time and you drive your boat all around St maartin like about 10 miles, then you dock all the boats and go snorkleing for about 45 minutes at this inlet were its very quiet and has great coral reefs and when your done snorkleing the guide tours you back to were you started so the whole trip takes like 2 1/2 hours and let me tell you this is plenty of time because when your about done you have rhino butt from all the bouncing you do on these small boats but they are so much fun and the cost on the boat is like 102.00 a person on carnival we got to do this for 102.00 for a couple with the joyce prince deal and they take your picture for 15.00 you get a rhino 8x10 formatted backing, and i wound up giving her the other 100.00 for her time that day ,and she drives you around in her dodge caravan thats real comfy and she supplies beers and wine for you and water real cool crap like she your cousin or something let me tell you shes the best ,,while we were on the rhino rider she picked up 2 girls from phoenix off the valor and they all met us at the rhino rider when we were done and she started her island tour for about an hour or so and we all stopped for lunch down town at one of those carribean street restaurants that she knew and the food was very good but it did take a while to be served because the waitress was new ,anyhow after that we were on the french side we went to this little mall to window shop and use the bathrooms, and at the top of the mall was a fort were you can take nice pics of the island and Joyce will tell you about the history of both sides of the island while she drives and stops anytime you want to take pics anywere along her tour ,--then we went to Orient bay beach i think the name is and this was the topless if you choose beach on the french side and it was just a beutifull beach with all the trimmings ,jet skis a tiki bar beach chairs and a restaurant with bathrooms and showers so we all got out and went on the beach and me and wife decided to go parasailing of the back of a speed boat ,,this cost $100.00 for about 10 15 minutes and we never did this before so it was real exciting and while we did that the girls from phoenix just went sun bathing while joyce just hung out and watched all our stuff while we were on the parasail boat this took about an hour because they fill the boat up and they strap you up and you wait for other parasailers to go while you speed boat around that point intill its your turn to go and we got to parasail together, and it was like being in heaven let me tell you, this is a must do thing if you never tried it ,,then when we were finished we got back to joyce who was waitng near the tiki bar and we all had a few pina colatas that i bought and a fresh water shower, then dried off and changed and left the beach for the final leg of our tour back towards the ship on the dutch side to the straw and flea markets they have there ,and she will drop you off and you go shopping for a 1/2 hour or so if you want and we wrapped it all up and she returnes us at the ship about 4:30 pm and we called it a day and went back to the ship,,anyone interested i have Joyces info and she has an email and a phone# to contact her you cannot go wrong so thats St Maartin -----to be continued

Here are some odds and ends of the cruise that i may have not mentioned ---first of all the bedding on the valor is not the new bedding because our beds really were bad so what we did is,we asked the stewart to bring us 2 feather comfortors they use as blankets on the bed and i used both of these and 2 other quilted blankets to line the mattress with like on the 3rd day of the cruise and this really saved me from tossing and turning the rest of the cruise, the stewart was a little beside himself when he saw what we done with the blankets plus we rearrainged the entire room and took all the night tables and put them in one corner and turned the beds around so that the widow next to the balacony door was our head board and we opened up the whole room so you had another few extra square footage to walk around the cabin in comfort ,it was a really ingenius thing to do because it felt a little cramped the way it was arrainged but once we did this the room was much bigger and we also found a new pair of flip flops and a new mans hat under the beds when we moved them so i dont know if you want to call this a bonus or we kinda freaked out because that stuff was under the beds, you decide...

Also i managed to make about $1500 in the casino on the black jack tables and the crap tables and openly admit i spent a good amount of time in the casino at night and on sea days since i was such on a roll and i would win and run the funds downstairs to the pursers desk to pay down our sail and sign card and i did this all week and let me tell you all the people in the casino except for 1 or 2 disgrutled dealers were all fantastic and most of them were women from Romania and very pretty and friendly and were always happy when the players were winning, also all the beverage servers in the casino were great and after the 5th day i got the pit bosses to buy my drinks in the casino while i was at the table for they rated me and saw i had a nice average in there and you know you see all the same degenerate gamblers all week in the casino so you make friends with some of them and enemys with others who were losing and plunging away there life savings ,you make one wrong move that effects these other players and some guys i saw all week were like fighting at the tables when someone drew a card that you shouldnt or something like that, some know what i mean but anyways the only problem i had was the casino was very smokey ,especially at night and by the last night i really couldnt take it anymore and had an early night because i couldnt take the smoke anymore, they really need smoke eater machines in that place it was really out of control sometimes ,but that was the casino deal....Also let me mention that one night i won like 700 in the casino and it was like 2am and i was going to bed so i thought i will run and put this cash down at the pursers desk and the guy wound up taking the cash and giving me a receipt that said i took out 700.00 and this turned into a scary mess intill i called down there the next morning and had this guy from italy paged and to straighten out my account so that was my cardio work out for the day .....

Shows we saw were the 80 show i think on tuesday and that was really good and the other things we saw was a comedy show on friday night and he was a little x rated but it was all good and during the week when they had it we would go to the art auction were they had free champagne and i would let my wife go to that and i would pop my head in there time to time to see how my wife was doing with that ,we didnt win the raffle but you get some nice pics just to attend the aution and the guy who is the auctioneer was from SouthAfrica with a brit accent who was very knowledgable at his job and very intelligent but had a sense of humor like plastor and doesnt like anyone commenting spontaineously over him or he talks louder over you or just gets insulted i thought he was a jerk who really thinks hes better then americans for real and was real snooty and i wanted to just pour my champagne on him but thats all about that ------to be continued and almost done :)

Well in conclusion I will say we had one day were we had the sushi ,it was pretty good except they get a little lazy with the shrimp sushi they make the rice roll then just put chopped shrimp on top of that so i thought that was kind of chinzy, but the other rolls like the salmon were good and they are a few yards next to the wine bar so it went hand in hand to grab a bottle of champagne and eat your sushi, and also they have a java cafe in the same area with great desserts but this is a pay area meaning the java cafe ,on your sign and sale card and on the other side of the casino out by the elevators on the 5th floor are all the gift shops and jewlery stores ,we were exactly 2 floors up from that so this is why our cabin was right in the middle of everything,,also on the 5th floor down a ways from the sushi is the kids game room were they must have a least 50 or more video games for the kids ,this was real big and i think the games are a 1.00 each game so that can drain a thrifty familys wallet a little i bet, they also have the piano bar and the kareoke bars all in the aft of the ship on the 5th deck so alot happens on this 5th deck ---also the formal wear is on the 5th deck this is where you pick up and drop off your tuxedo for the formal night ,i rented one and it was a pleasure not carrying on that extra luggage -----also what comes to mind is on the lido deck#9 near the pool the girl was out there everyday doing air brush tattoos for anyone who wants .So my wife made me get one of those and its almost gone by now but did last a good 5 or 6 days and all in all it was really a great cruise we drank a lot of water and champagne on the cruise and get the large waters they are about a 1.00 more then the small one and a better deal and all in all we had a great time so not too many complaints and i cant think if i left anything out-- so for closing we did the self embark on sunday morning and that is the only way to go if you want off the ship quickly, we were off the ship by 9am and taking one of those transport airport vans to ft lauderdale were our daughter picked us up around the block from the airport in ft lauderdale so she didnt have to drive all the way down to miami and the transport cost 20.00 a person and was really worth it so i guess i have nothing left to say i hope i didnt forget anything vital so cant wait till we go again ---SORRY SO LONG HOPE SOME OF YOU ENJOYED THIS ANY QUESTIONS?

Great review!! Looks like I dont have to type one you said it all lol. Well to begin with we probly spent alot of time together since we were in the casino alot. If you played the BJ tournament then you might have seen me there I was the one they all flipped out on when I split 10's during it LOL well you just have to do crazy things in a tournament.... I played BJ 3 card poker was my favorite, and some craps. My hubby I think has a chair named after him he lived in the casino... He won the second slots tournament and then he split the 2nd BJ tournament. If you read the names his was Carol's husband :-) He did win enough for us to buy a nice pair of earrings for my daughter in St Thomas, and a nice diamond ring for me in St Maartin. I think out of all the islands I like St Maartin the best. Its very clean and the water is beautiful. I was up on the Verandah deck it was deck 8 and I didnt hear any noise from deck 9 we were in room 8356. I probly saw you all the time on the ship. We ate at Scarletts on Thursday night we really enjoyed that we had the porterhouse and the lobster, you are right the desert was to dye for there we had the chocolate thingy it came in three different glasses and was sooo good.

Im really sorry to hear about your father my condolences for you and your family

Did you reserve this shuttle ahead of time or do they just come to the ship pier... also which shuttle did you use? We have a jetblue flight that goes into Ft. Lauderdale. We have a hotel the night before and night after the cruise at one of the Airport hotels. We were just wondering how the shuttles worked. thanks!

Losuds63-Great review..sorry to hear about your Dad-I lost both parents 18 mos apart about 10-11 yrs. ago..terribly sad time....By the way, those ingrown toenails can and should be removed..I 've had both big toes done and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made..Shot to numb you stings a bit,but you'll NEVER have pain again there-promise..make sure you go to a podiatrist, not your Family GP...do it ASAP,you and your feet deserve it.....did you hear any cabin noise thru the walls at night? Was this your first cruise?I've been on 12,everything but Disney and Costa....Congrats on all!!
