Let's do the math....

...on a single cruise ticket of $1500, for a 7 night Carribean cruise from FLL to the eastern Carribean. How many dollars of that would be for fuel??

Now we'll see how many bored cruise addicts are out there!!

Wouldn't it depend on the ship. Since the azipod propulsion system doesn't work on some of the ships they must use less fuel as they are relying on the wind to push them through he water.......

Is that unleaded or premium? And can we pump it ourselves and save a few pennies?

Piece of cake...The Century burns 94.3 gallons of fuel per mile at 21 knots (this is from the
Century daily). Depending on the itinerary, a 7 day cruise probably goes some 2500 miles therefore burns 235,750 gallons. At $1.50 per gallon (I am assuming some volume discount here), that would eqaute to $353,625. If there are 1500 pax on board, then it cost each pax $235.75.

Danno...throw me a fast ball here!!!

Depends on the fuel.

Diesel fuel is by far the most popular and costs less. But pollutes more.

M Class ships use a higher grade of gas to propel the GTS turbines. Costs more and is not as efficient but the pollution is much lower. You see steam coming out of the stacks, not smoke.

What about the windows? Do they get their windows washed when they pull in for that big fill up?

Boy, no doubt I'm dating myself when I talk about window washes with fillups!

Let's revisit this question. Back in the early 70's, some of you may remember the oil embargo and subsequent price increases. Well....even though we were booked and paid in full, just about every line was adding on a "fuel sur-charge". I think we paid an additional $12 a day, so our 10 day cruise was an additional $120 PP. Unless some of the lines have a gazillion gallons stock piled somewhere, I would not be surprised to see a sur-charge again. We are fully paid for a July sailing and so far nothing has been said about a fuel sur-charge. Anyone else booked on something sailing within the next 60-90 days? Have you been hit up for a sur-charge?

1. Do we have to take into account the fuel used by the tenders?

2. Is there an adjustment for the Windjammer cruises?

3. If they put the purchase on a gas credit card, do they get free bonuses and do we then deduct the value from the calculations?

4. I just want to see the size of the "free car wash" when they do a fillup.

Despite Daytime surfing an e-centric demand for indispensibility, Danno's yet to realize the benefits of "futures" - those vehicles that stabilize prices for mega-consumers - that keep Albertan's humming...

Just say the word Woody and we'll keep Canadian oil in Canada...can't see it hurting me much, I already pay FAR more for Canadian gas, then you pay for Canadian gas. YOUR oil companies and OUR governments make sure we pay and pay and pay...

Nice to hear from you Woody...if you don't care for my post why don't you just say "I dislike Danno's posts".

I think that they use their credit card to pay for the gas. It's one of the ones that earns them free air miles. They use the miles to cover the air expenses of those wishing to book their air through the cruise line.

But Danno, with the price you Canadians pay for drugs (compared to prices those in the States pay) you acan afford all those headaches you get having to pay for the Canadian gas. (This is referred to as Republican economics...)

And Danno, the price you pay for the gas is inflated by the taxes attached to pay for your medical care. So when you get a headache you don't have to pay $100 for an office visit.
