Howard Johnson hotel & The Loews Hotel

Anyone ever stayed in either The Howard Johnson, Miami or The Loews Miami Beach Hotel?

 

We're stayin in the HJ in Oct, just as an overnighter before our cruise. I've read pretty bad reviews.

 

Then we have 2 nights in The Loews after our cruise before flying home to Ireland.

 

Any presonal experiences ?

You're comparing apples & oranges there. The Howard Johnson's is a very old hotel, in an area that's quite far north, well away from the action, with absolutely nothing within walking distance except the beach and lots and lots of condos. If you're not renting a car you probably should as it's so far away that the cost of taxis would be quite expensive both from the airport and to the pier. It would be far less expensive to rent a car!

 

Loews is in the heart of South Beach and is a wonderful hotel.

 

Before your cruise you would be better off staying in a downtown Miami hotel.

:p Ah well its too late now. Its part of the package and paid for.

Not too worried its just a stop over as I said. Arrive Friday evening and sail out Saturday 3pm.

We'll be knackered anyway from our long flight and probably be jet lagged so won't be too worried about seeing Miami before cruise.

 

Its The Loews hotel that I'm looking forward to (and the cruise of course)
