Madeira, Portugal

We will be taking the Douro River Wine Country River Cruise with Vantage Travel in Oct. 2015 aboard the Douro Spirit. There is a 4 day/3 night pre-trip extension available to Madeira, Portugal. Any helpful information or recommendations on whether we should consider this extension?

Madeira is a lovely island and Funchal a very pretty city. We have been fortunate to have stopped there twice on trans-Atlantic cruises.

 

If you have the time and funds, I would recommend you strongly consider adding on the extension.

We will be going there next year with the Grand Circle trip called Northern Spain and the Bay of Biscay. It is their pretrip.

Madeira is a lovely island, very green and with a good climate all year round. We have been fortunate enough to spend several winter holidays there. If you have the opportunity to spend some time there, I would certainly advise you to take it.
