Still Hope for Venice cruise ships

For anyone booked to the end of December this year on sailings from Venice on large ships make the most of it because the New restriction comes into force from January 2015 which bans ships over 96,000 Gross Tons and restricting the number of ships below this size.

From the report below it looks like a New route is being considered in order to get cruise ships into Statione Marittima which avoids the Giudecca canal and St Marks Square, the work could take up to 2 years to complete.

From the report it is clear that they are worried about job losses and the financial loss to Venice.
