Men's Spa Facilities on Cruise ships: Which ones do you think are the best?

Recommended Posts

Hi Lovetocruise38!  I think you will enjoy the whirlpool/hot tub on Venezia.  It is just outside the door of the sauna and convenient.  If you go back to page 75, posting #1862, 8-25-23, Mojitos24 posted some really good pictures of the men's area.  That sauna is very large and comfortable even with several people in it.  Even though the hot tub can only hold 2 comfortably it can make for some great conversations!  When are you going on Venezia?  I was on the Oct 28, 2023 sailing and made an additional posting about the glass door on the shower in the locker area being covered and Natefish95 also commented about that.  Our sailing was a 12-day; how many days will you be on?

Doing an 8 day in July. Looking to try it out before it repositions to Florida. Looks like the view from the hot tub and sauna are amazing.

Yes, the view is incredible.  I am sure you will enjoy it.  We are booked again in January, 2025 for a back to back 7 day and 14 day from Port Canaveral and a 14 day in November, 2025 from Canaveral!

Sounds like they've got a great area for conversations, but I don't think any of that is worth the awful food and general loud drunken vibe on carnival. Maybe i am getting old at 47 😂

I was on the Queen Victoria last fall and forgot to post pictures of the sauna area.  It was well used every day.

You didn't forget to post them last fall.  They are on page 79, but great to see them again!

The vibe is somewhat calmer when schools/colleges are in session rather than in summer or other school vacation times.

Has anyone been on the Carnival Firenze yet? I’m hoping it has the same set up as Venezia but haven’t been able to confirm.

Hi Asinnard!  (This is the response I gave to jer_I on the other board about saunas on the ships regarding the Firenze.).  The Firenze is the sister ship to the Venezia so they should be the same in the men's area and are free to use.  I was on Venezia out of New York City on 10-28-23 and really enjoyed the facilities.  It is hard to get a good idea of the deck plans on those two ships though because they are not like the other Carnival ships in the fleet with interactive deck plans.  Theirs are just in pdf form.  However, if you go to cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/index.php you can see a better representation and they both look the same to me.  Also, if you go to the other board, "Fitness, Spa & Sports Cruises" under Special Interest Cruising and then go to page 75, posting 1862 on 8-25-23 that was posted by Mojitos24 they posted some really great pictures of the men's area.  Hope that helps and enjoy your cruise!

Thanks! I was able to find a video reviewing the men’s locker room set up on the Firenze and it is in fact the same set up. I loved the set up on Venezia and that was part of what prompted me to book the Firenze. I just worry anytime Carnival updates their ships as these amenities seem to be the first to go. While I understand the need to generate more revenue from guests once they are on board, I’ll never understand the concept of co-ed saunas and steam rooms.

I totally agree with you about refurbishments!  I am looking forward to our 33 days on Legend soon so I can see if anything changed with the drydock just completed.  We fly to London July 4th and sail July 7th.  Where did you find the video reviewing the Firenze?  I would like to check it out.  Thanks.

Looks the same as Cunards Queen Elizabeth setup.

In September 2018 cruised from Bremerhaven to Palma Mallorca on Tui ship Mein Schiff 3.  The facilities were spacious and mixed. Rest lounges inside the facility and immediately outside on a sun deck provided a comfortable private retreat.

Naturally Germans appear to hold less inhibition regarding mixed facilities but you can wear your swimmers in need.

Change rooms were not mixed, although internal showers in the facility were. Probably one of the better facilities that I have used with staff member assisting in the sauna temperature buildup, but to levels I couldn't comfortably manage.

Did I read that correctly that the change rooms were single sex but the showers there were mixed?  Or did it mean the mixed showers were in the pay spa area?  Was the sauna a good size?

This is a good video but the area is quite a bit smaller than on the Venezia.  The sauna layout it strange with the high bench and then the lower area.  No whirlpool/hot tub either.  In the locker room on Venezia the towels are stored where the sink is on Firenze.  But I am sure you are still going to enjoy it.  If you do get a chance though, think about at least one cruise on Venezia just to compare the two setups!  I wanted to book a back to back on Firenze to check it out but now that I have seen this video I am not intrigued enough to book it after all.  Guess I was just too spoiled by Venezia!

Larrydm1. Separate male and female changerooms, with showers. Internal showers for cooling off in between use of facilities.

OK, thanks.  Gotcha.  In the past when we have cruised around the Med and Europe I have seen several of the Mein Schiff ships and often wondered what they were like inside.  Thanks again for the update.
