girlcoguy Posted August 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) God forbid it be needed, but could one actually land on this small front pad that looks recessed? Edited August 18, 2014 by girlcoguy add a photo
Brian131489 Posted August 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Anytime I have seen anything with a helicopter they fly over head, lower the equipment down, hoist everything back up

3dog Posted August 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 21, 2014 Those are all artist renderings, and shouldn't be considered exact. Best to either wait for images of the real thing, or sneak a peak at the webcams to see if there is more accurate images.
Rare eroller Posted August 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 21, 2014 Anytime I have seen anything with a helicopter they fly over head, lower the equipment down, hoist everything back up Exactly. Helicopters are never meant to land onboard, just hover above and lower the equipment down. This goes for all cruise ships.

This goes for all cruise ships. Never say never, as there may well be exceptions.... ;) I agree though that landing on a cruise ship would only be attempted if there were no other option. Eric True there are always exceptions but these markings are really meant as a designated safe area for helicopters to hover above. On some ships, I'm not even sure they could support the weight of a helicopter.
