I know this gets asked alot, and I know there's always differing opinions. But if we sail out of Miami on the Glory and I opt for self disembarkation and no bags, (hubby and kids will come later) just me in a cab, how early can I get to the airport to catch a flight?? It will keep me out of a big doghouse if I can make it earlier rather than later. Thanks for opinions and I know ultimately, it's a chance I'm taking. :)

The best you'll be able to get are experiences that may or may not match your sailing. All it takes is one or more unplanned events (sickness or death onboard or in port, weather, etc - I've experienced all 3 types of delays) to mess things up.

You get so many answers because people have so many different experiences. We have gotten off as early as 7:30 (but then waited 45 mins for our bags because we didn't self-disembark) to as late as 12:30. If everything goes as planned, 8:00 is very reasonable to be off the ship in a hurry, but feel free to take your concern to guest services and see what they can do to speed you along. I believe if you show them your early ticket they will put you in the earliest disembark group.

Fresh off the Carnival Victory this past Monday. We didn't get back to port until about 8am. They allow those carrying their own bags off first and stagger them by deck. I was on deck 6 and was called to get off the ship by 8:45am. They allowed the higher decks to get off first. Hope this helps.

You won't have bags so doing self assist is your best bet.

If you're not platinum, you should buy FTTF. Those groups can get off the ship doing self assist before the regular self assist passengers. There are often hundreds or even more than a thousand passengers using self assist.

The earliest disembark group that Guest Services could put you in is Zone 1 which starts AFTER all the people doing self-assist.

In Miami we self assist everytime. We have been off as early as 7am (4/2013) and as late as 8:15am(4/2009). This past April we were off at 730am. Our flight is usually between 10 and 11 am from MIA. With that being said we were late getting into Tampa (10/2011) didnt miss our flight but it sure was close. Good luck
