Transfer port to manhatten hotels

Is a taxi the only way we are going to get from the ship into Manhattan?

 

Are there shuttle type vans at the port or any larger vehicle which we could share with another couple?

Hi, when we came off Explorer at Bayonne there was a taxi queue, the dispatcher at the front of the queue was matching people up to take them ito Manhatten or elsewhere, we put a card on the notice board on the ship a couple of days before and hooked up with a couple who wanted to share and were staying in the same part of town as we were so we all debarked together to get in the queue as I did not want to be accused of jumping or saving places. If you have not sailed to/from here before, there are some great photo ops of the skyline from across the water when you dock.
