bohica81 Posted August 27, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I've already paid mine in full and the final payment was due in a couple days. I called them to see how i was booked and she said i was booked as a past guest not early saver. She said that if the price dropped before i cruise that i would have an on board credit. Has that happened to others? i am not expecting a discount i just want to make sure i get it if its available.
mum2bradley Posted August 27, 2014 #27 Share Posted August 27, 2014 No a single price drop for our NYE's cruise. Last year we sailed at Christmas and I had 4 price drops by May. Still hoping for one!
snc_cam Posted August 27, 2014 #28 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I have an upcoming cruise that I didn't see price drops for 8 months, then 2 within 3 days inside of 20 days before the cruise. Just realize that you have a good price for your cruise.
eyebetoni Posted August 28, 2014 #29 Share Posted August 28, 2014 When the price drops don't submit the form. Just pick up the phone and call them. By price went down 13 times and when we got on the ship we had $1300 on board credit.
Reneeaz1982 Posted August 28, 2014 #30 Share Posted August 28, 2014 I filled out the online form once and received a small OBC. How do you compare the prices with what you paid? Is it just the base price you paid? Also, when looking at current prices can you compare to ANY offers? Ie they pick your cabin or "fun saver" prices? Thanks in advance! eyebetoni Posted August 28, 2014 #31 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Renee- you can go to carnivals page and search for fare viewer. Or google it too. It shows you the cruise rate price before port charges and taxes. If you book under the early saver rate the first time you have price protection And can change to any other offer at any time [emoji1]

snc_cam Posted August 28, 2014 #33 Share Posted August 28, 2014 copied over to the "true" Woo thread... :) Do a mock booking like you did to purchase your cruise. When you get to the point right before you have to pay, compare the total price with what you paid. If the price is lower, you may be eligible for a price drop depending on how you purchased your cruise initially. If ES, then you have up to 2 business days prior to your cruise. All others are up to final payment date.

snc_cam Posted August 28, 2014 #35 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Renee- you can go to carnivals page and search for fare viewer. Or google it too. If you book under the early saver rate the first time you have price protection And can change to any other offer at any time [emoji1] One thing to remember when using fareviewer is that you need to add in the fees/taxes. If they go up and you request a price drop, you will have to pay the current rate. And in some cases, if the fees/taxes go up a lot, you may not have a price drop at all. eyebetoni Posted August 28, 2014 #36 Share Posted August 28, 2014 That was not true for us. I have used fare viewer with 4 separate cruises and they only adjusted my cruise rate and the taxes and port charges were the same.
snc_cam Posted August 28, 2014 #37 Share Posted August 28, 2014 then you found a Carnival rep that I would love to have :) My upcoming cruise the port taxes/fees went up $90 and it reduced my OBC...
eyebetoni Posted August 28, 2014 #38 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Wow really!! Which cruise it. I will have to watch out for that.
snc_cam Posted August 28, 2014 #39 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Currently the Splendor on Sept 13. Taxes went from 340 to 430 last Spring. So, it can be any cruise. Also saw the taxes go up on the Pride reposition cruise after the first month.
Reneeaz1982 Posted August 28, 2014 #40 Share Posted August 28, 2014 I actually read in another thread about the Port fees going up. I felt like I got a good deal when we originally booked, so any OBC is fantastic for us. It's our first cruise so just gives us a lil extra spending money! snc_cam Posted August 28, 2014 #41 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Hope you enjoy it. My wife and I have been doing it regularly for the past 5 years. Waiting until retirement until we can do it much more. :)
