Dalton51 Posted August 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2014 Is there any beaches here that are really nice with blue water that I can see through? Would also like a really Caribbean beach bar. Any spot here that you recommend? Thanks

RayInPR Posted August 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Not in the San Juan area. Need to go to Ceiba (Los Machos). Or get off-island to Culebra or Vieques.

Can you do this being on a cruise ship? Also can you lead me in the right way abouts doing this? Thanks
Dirkgun Posted August 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Can you do this being on a cruise ship? Also can you lead me in the right way abouts doing this? Thanks What other stops do you make? San Juan is not really about beaches.... there are so many other things to see/do.... history (the forts, El Morro and San Cristobal), charm (the cobblestone streets and old world architecture) You can east and see El Yunque (the only tropical Rain Forest in the US National Parks system). If you want a beach that is prototypical Caribbean (clear calm water) you will have better luck on another island (St Thomas, St Maarten... etc) San Juan and Puerto Rico are wonderful for lots of other reasons. dcikon2 Posted August 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Isla Verde is decent; however, go to Culebra and Flamenco Beach if you want a great beach. You would have to fly out of the downtown airport to go to Culebra.
Stinger-pr Posted August 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Isla Verde beach (about a 20 minute cab ride from the pier) is maybe the best beach in the San Juan Metro area. It is close enough to go if your in a ship making a port call and while there are no taxi stands at the beach itself, you can ask the driver for the dispatcher's number or walk to the nearest hotel (Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde and they DO have cabs standing by. The hotel is just right down the beach. Beaches at Culebra (Flamingo Beach) and Vieques are doable if your staying at least one day pre or post cruise. Dalton51 Posted August 28, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted August 28, 2014 We will be here for a cruise stop. Also going to St.Marrtin , We have been to airplane beach and orint Beach there. Any other good ones? What about this Rain Forrest? What do you do?
Stinger-pr Posted August 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2014 The rain forest is very doable on a port call. But it also depends on the duration of the call. Some ships have very short calls and that is a very important factor when planing a rain forest trip. Some ships have ship sponsored excursions while on the other hand, there are some independent operators that have regular tours designed for cruise ship passengers. Google "el yunque tours/excursions" for information on such operators.
