triple7tahoe Posted August 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2014 For the past three or four years I have received a "special" invitation to a selected group of cruises-Seems like there were 5 to 7 offered where they added some items like special items in your cabin, Fair amount of "Casino credit"-I got $250 just for casino use. Many special events in the casino etc. I did not think much about when I did not get an invite this year until I talked with some friends, that we met in the casino and they are going on a "Casino" cruise this year in Sept. Even one of her friends got an invitation and was not a gambler. I called Princess; VIP Casino services; and a special number at Princess which seemed to be dedicated to casinos. Nobody could give me answer but most seemed to think that it was now random? Anybody out there going on a "Casino" cruise this year? BTW calling VIP host folks did some good as we are now in line to receive some special package to include wine and flowers on our next cruise:D
eclue Posted August 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I was also wondering about this...Last year we were invited on the Caribbean Princess and participated in the casino cruise which was very nice...of course we gambled and of course we lost, but it was a fun time.... I am disappointed that we have not received another invite.

We booked Hawaii in April. :) She does frequent the casinos but we haven't sailed Princess in 5 years. Same with Carnival..doesn't seem too be any rhyme nor reason in their invites.
USAF Retired Posted August 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) Received an email on August 12th with 10 Casino Cruises and the dates were from November 2014 thru June 2015. During a B2B in November 2013, I was selected to participate in the Casino Cruise the second week of the cruise for the first time. Received an email in January with a list of Casino Cruises and the wife and I went on the cruise in June. This new email selected both my wife and I and offered us both money, etc., for the cruise. Of course we had to take advantage and booked a B2B with week 1 being the Casino Cruise. They are a lot of fun and hopefully you get selected again. Also a good sales pitch as we selected 2 B2B cruises in order to get the Casino Cruise. Edited August 28, 2014 by USAF Retired
yoyosma Posted August 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Although I drop some money in the casinos on board, I have never received an invitation to a casino cruise. I am curious. Is there a minimum amount you must spend in the Casino on a cruise to qualify? Is the cruise a special price? Or is it extra money to sell slow selling cruises? Details please and thank you. Is there a minimum amount you must spend in the Casino on a cruise to qualify? Is the cruise a special price? Or is it extra money to sell slow selling cruises? Details please and thank you. From my many conversations with the various possible sources of information (Princess; Casino VIP; Princess Captain's Circle and Princess dedicated Casino rep) there is no known way these invitations are sent. It certainly is not by the amount of money spent in the casino or money lost as I would high on both lists:mad:. I don't think # of cruises is a factor either. We seem to take about the same number each year. Each rep I spoke with came up with "it must be random" I do know that if you reach a certain spending level on any given cruise, you will receive a note from the casino telling you to contact Casino VIP services, with phone number and you will receive some benefits on your next cruise. This is a change in the last year or so and is taking the place of giving you $10 on your machine when you had reached a certain point level. M4dC0w Posted August 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 28, 2014 They keep track of everything, but only count what you did on yiur last cruise. Its not random, they dont give out money randomly. The cruise special pricing that is sent out is nit special at all. The money they give yiu is related to your level of play on your last cruise. I talked to Davor, the princess exec in charge of the OPC, anyone else at the casino line dont have a clue
bob7judy Posted August 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 28, 2014 I got an invitation for a casino cruise. I haven't cruised on Princess for several years and seldom get to 1000 points on my card. I selected the January 18 cruise out of Houston and it would cost me $275 more than I could get the past guest rate. I would get $150 casino credit with the past guest rate but none of the other amenities. When I first started checking, the past guest rate did not include the casino cash but they added that in later which made the casino deal even worse. Don't know if the free drinks, tournaments, and gifts would be worth it or not. What do you think?

Have received invitations the last 2/3 years and love the extras, especially the cash! Also won a nice jackpot on last year's Crown Princess cruise. I have gotten as high as $350 for some cruises. What I did not understand was how some folks were given the special invitations and what the qualifications might be. I have spoken with Davor on a couple of cruises but never asked him about the special cruise invitations. I do know that each ship Casino host and Casino manager are the folks to know and that each seems to have a different record keeping system. Or at least in how they report to the Casino VIP center. Our friends who got this invite were introduced to Davor by us. They have stayed in touch and maybe that has something to do with:confused:

The last one I got offered $500 in play but that was over a year ago and I haven't gotten one since. Mike:)
