packard89 Posted August 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Has anyone done this excursion? Can anyone tell me the name of the beach? We're thinking about booking it but it received pretty mixed reviews. Thanks. Kirsten
grantbob Posted August 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) I haven't done it, but it is located right at the start of the public beach close to the pier. If you look on google maps it's right at the corner of calle 19 (Malecon) and calle 80. It's more of a "party" day with music and dancing than a "relaxing" day. It depends on what you are looking for. Edited August 29, 2014 by grantbob
clackey Posted August 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 31, 2014 No need for an excursion if you want to set on the beach and drink. Walk down the Malecon until you find a spot that you like and grab chair. The waiters will serve you on the beach. The farther you go the less people to contend with. packard89 Posted August 31, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted August 31, 2014 One more question, do they have wifi? Kirsten
WisRiver Posted September 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Our experience with Wi-fi on the beach in Progreso is mixed. The routers are in the restaurant/bar and have limited range out to the beach about 50 meters away. In Eladios the Wifi service is iffy on the beach. If you go inside a restaurant such as Flamingos or Eladios, they usually have good Wifi. Wifi service in Progreso can be unreliable, not enough bandwidth and to many users. We live 7 km east of Progreso. Once the cruise ship leaves, our internet/wifi service improves dramatically.
TXSAIL Posted September 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Corona Beach Break is a total waste unless you like a dirty beach right by the pier with blarring music and the little Corona beer bottles....Like someone said go on your own farther down the malecon.. squirrel65 Posted September 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2014 We just got back- for $25 we had open bar, food, and were right on the beach- the Carnival area also is right against the pier- not the most picturesque place. The place we "rented" beach chairs from also had great free WiFi on the beach! Shirley
