dongordon Posted August 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2014 How are the Bow views on the Star for viewing the Panama Canal....is there plenty of viewing space? What decks offer the best bow views? Some ships have very limited viewing from the bow of the ship Don
Cubechick Posted August 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2014 When we did the PC on the Star, the Captain opened the forward crew area (where the crew pool is) while sailing through the PC. It was awesome!

It was awesome! Thank you....are there any other decks for viewing the transit, or is that the only place for a foreward view? I suppose it could get very crowded on that deck. :) Don

There are glass panels for blocking the wind that can interfere with the views and photography. This are gets crowded early, so if you want a front row view, you may need to get up there very early in the morning. Da-Painter Posted August 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2014 We had a front suite, the deck is about 15'X15', and the best for viewing the entire movement thru the canal. We invited others to join us, and the butler brought refreshments for us. There is no shade, and the butler brought us umbrellas to keep cool. Its an all day journey thru the canal, and all the public areas are packed early in the morning. There are other limitations to using this front deck, wind, keeping the door and curtains closed at nite. But If I were to go thru the canal again, I would choose these cabins. But for most other cruises, I would not.

We went forward for a bit, but it was broiling in the sun. Back in our room, we kept the TV on the bridge cam so we could have both views. :D Here is a link to my photos of the transit.
