Last trip of the season

Leaving Sep 17 on Volendam for 7 day inside passage, R/T Vancouver. It's my first Alaska trip.

I'm going solo as my husband teaches and can't get away. That's also a first for me.

So, I know since it's late in the season I need (1) lots of layers and rain gear (2) seasick prevention. Anything else specific to late season Alaska??

Will there be lots of sales on the ship of the "2014 alaska season" stuff?

Thanks for advice.

Don't forget a hat, gloves and some shoes that you have sprayed a couple of times with a waterproof spray.

Yes, you should find a lot of Alaska goods on clearance on the ship and also ashore. Ashore, if you are purchasing in the jewelry line or something of value don't be afraid to negotiate.

If the stars all align and our TA comes up with a flash promotion we may be joining you....otherwise wave to me as you pass by my front door. I am about an hour after you pass under the Lions Gate bridge on the starboard side...I'll be watching for you.

The last trip north of the season is my top choice. The cruise ships shops on land may already be closed for the season but others will have sales. Many tour operators shut down earlier than your trip.

But you will see and experience more of the 'real' Alaska.

Be sure to take along good skin lotion as I always dry out in Alaska.
