Guppies program

Can anyone tell me about the guppies program on NCL? I know you have to stay with your child but I don't know anything about what is in the room or what activities there are. How do you arrange for a grandparent to go instead of a parent?

Sorry, we have never used the Guppies program so we don't have any first hand experience.

This is the Guppies room on the Breakaway.

I got these from our recent Breakaway Cruise (8/31/14).

The scheduled events are supervised. Basically story time, followed by painting/coloring. Sometimes 'circus' time depending on the ship (had it on the Dawn but not on any other).

Depending on how many children they may do it in the dedicated guppy room or in a conference room. It's ok, kills a half hour on sea days but I don't think the kids really take much away. It probably hits a sweet spot for about the 18-24 month age range, but if yours is older than that, they may be disinterested.

Having done it five times on five different ships, I will categorically say it depends on the quality of the supervising staff.

Trying to keep my 20mo granddaughter away from her almost 6yo sister for a bit with activities just for her! We are doing an extended family cruise and the little one is kind of getting lost in the shuffle.

Yes - then once per day she will enjoy it. We did Alaska on the Jewel when ours was 20 months and he was still engaged by the guppy activities. Subsequent to that though, not so much.

The 'free play' room is good, when it's open.
