Yes we did this in 2010 with a taxi from the port. The overall cost was not much different than doing the trip but meant we could do it in our own time and pace. I hate being herded around.

 

If you are over a certain age not sure if 55 or 60 then if you take your passport with you there is a significant reduction in ticket price. P & O do not pass this on to pax.

 

It's a great day but worth planning it as really you need two days to see and experience everything. You can plan your trip using their website.
