Hi - just booked this short getaway - YAY. A short cruise is better than no cruise. Has anyone done this before? We have sailed on many long cruises, but this is our first time on the short ones. What should we expect in way of differences? Thanks Also - October cruise - any idea of the weather on the way down?

We did a 4 day the other way - sort of... We went from SF to Vancouver. Too short but a very nice little cruise. We had a great time and enjoyed a Pub Lunch one of the days.

Our first cruise was the repo from Vancouver to LA-followed immediately by the 2 week Panama Canal Cruise.

It was pleasant cruise. We sailed in mid September. Expect the first 2 days to be cool. We walked the Promenade deck in the morning as needed jackets.

They had a set of shows planned for the three days which are exactly like the longer cruises.

The menus are the same -sail away the first night, the usual landfall the last night-with the baked Alaska.

I was surprised that even though it was short, the days were full. I know that many of the people getting off at LA acted as though the end was near and tried to pack as much stuff they could into those 2 days, but it can be a relaxing cruise-although short.

Enjoy!

We talk about this trip a lot. It was one of our favorite short vacations. We did a one night from Seattle to Vancouver and then spent a couple of nights there (great city). We then took the repositioning cruise to LA. Yes, you will find a lot of people there that are continuing on to the Panama Canal (we were on the Island) and so there were definitely different vibes depending on who you were talking to. We saw a lot of sea life on the way down (whales and dolphins). The weather was very clear but cool the first couple of days (not too cold but sweater weather) but the third day was really warm. Warm enough to have fun around the pool. The crew is excited to be moving on. The food was just like other cruises but no formal night. Seas were calm but I've heard that you can't always count on this.

We liked it so much we went the other way this spring. It is a very relaxing vacation. Have fun.
