Can someone recommend a tour company for Santorini?

For Athens? We read that Paul is good. Any comments?

We're going in May 2006.

We used Dimitris of OceanWave tours. His e-mail is info@oceanwavetours.com We had a great day in Santorini. Be sure to see Akrotiri. Dimitris gave us a very good tour of Santorini. We really packed a lot into our day there. He picked us up on the main street after we got off the cable car.

We just returned from Med cruise and had hired Dimitris. It was not good. After going up in the cable car and seeing no one to meet us, I had to make a very expensive international cell call to find him - he was around but without identification. He turned us over to Gabriel -- a complete disaster. Be careful!!

For those of you who recommend Ocean Wave Tours for a Santorini excursion, how many people were in your group and what type of vehicle was used? Dimitri offered a minivan for our group of 8 people but said that 2 would have to ride in the front seat with the driver. Will this be comfortable for a 5-hour tour?

Good choices! We have booked Paul/Nick at Greek Taxi for our upcoming visit to Athens as well.

 

We looked into Dimitris Oceanwave santorinitours as well but decided to use SantoriniDaytours (www.santorinidaytours.com) during our last trip to Santorini and glad of our decision. This tour was the best one out of the 7 private tours we had used during our Med trip! Our guide driver Nikos was also a professional photographer and captured many special moments of our day with his camera (with impressive lens and other accessories). These photos of our family and of the sites we visited were given to us free of charge at the end of the day. The price was also very reasonable and the van roomy.

We just returned from 12 day Med. on Millie. We were disappointed in our tour with Spiros Taxi.

 

We had booked with Sprios a few months in advance. He did tell us up front that he was personally booked, but guarenteed a driver named, Petros. We were picked up promptly by GEORGE!! He said he didn't even know who Petros was. We had also emailed and confirmed a number of times with Spiros the specific itinerary that we wanted including Sounion. George told us there was NO WAY we could see Athens and Sounion in one day. I had him phone Spiros and Spiros confirmed that there would not be enough time to do both. We were disappointed, but what could we do? George DID SMOKE and talked on his cell phone most of the time. We (a group of 8 of us) booked private tours in most ports and Spiros is the only one that we would NOT use again.

You have made great tour guide choices! We used both of these tours companies in July '05 and were very pleased.

 

In Santorini, Nikos gave us a great tour of the entire island. The photos he gives you at the end of the day are a wonderful memory. He is a very careful driver and knows Santorini very well as he has lived there his entire life. He speaks very good English.

 

In Athens, we booked with Paul but had his son Nick for the day(we knew in advance). We went to Ancient Corinth in the morning (very interesting) and did Athens in the afternoon. Driving in Athens is an adventure but Nick is a very confident driver and made sure we saw all the places that we wanted. He also took us to a small authentic Greek restaurant for lunch. I wish we could go back tonight as the food was delicious. Don't miss the Archeological Museum-outstanding! Nick speaks perfect English.

We just got back from our med cruise and took Santorinidaytours--we had Nikos and he was fantastic! Gave us a great tour of the island and gave us a fabulous cd with pictures he took to boot! Great pictures--Nikos is also a photographer. Wonderful man and very informative. He took us wherever we wanted to go and was very accommodating. I would recommend him in a heartbeat--it was one of the highlights of our tour.
