CasinoCruzGirl Posted October 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Anyone going on the November 9 or 15 slot tournament on the gem? Wish I was going but already booked on the breakaway November 30. Hopefully they have another one after that.
rochelle_s Posted October 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I am booked for the Tournament on the 15th....a couple of days after I booked I decided to stay on board for the next cruise - 9 day American Thanksgiving trip. This will be my first time on the Gem and for taking a cruise out of NYC city so I am looking forward to both. Going to start it all off by seeing the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall followed by dinner at the Russian Tea Room -- how's that for touristy! -- I don't mind I think it will be fun. :)

You will have a fabulous time. I have lived in either ny or nj all of my life went to the Statue of Liberty once in 5th grade on a field trip and once to radio city hall. My grandfather used to work in the Empire State building so used to go there all the time. But there are so many things I have never seen as a "tourist". My son used to model and do commercials when he was a baby so we were in Manhattan every day and before I had him I worked in Manhattan for years You would think I would have seen a lot more than I have. That seems to often be the case. We can take it for granted where we live. I went to university in Ottawa, our country's Capital city and I did not do enough tourist stuff when I was there. Now I live very right next to Niagara Falls and I have seen it plenty!! LOL Rochelle

rochelle_s Posted October 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2014 This is my first time in a CAS Slot Tournament and I have a few questions. Is there a maximum number of players in the tournament? How exactly does the tournament work? I imagine it is spread over the course of the week, how much time is needed per day or for the week for the tournament? Are there any get-together's for tournament participants other than the CAS sailaway party? Any other interesting tidbits of information you would like to share I am all ears. Thanks! landlady1952 Posted October 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2014 We are on the 9th cruise. In July we were on Breakaway for slit tournament. 3 days with assigned times to show up to play. Cumulative scores and top players won. There was a party first day and last day. Guess this cruise will be similar.
riddle Posted October 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I just did one in August and will be on this one too on the 9th. The august one was a national tourn so I think it was larger. Can't tell you how many people but lots. There is a reception the first day with drinks and snacks and we goy a t shirt. You got your time for the next day as we'll. expect lots of back to back time slots, like you hit the button for 3 minutes and the slots are 5 minutes apart. There is a winner each round but you can get bumped out even if you win your round. There are also rebut sessions available, this one was $50 a pop. Then there is a next round for qualifiers and I don't remember if there was a final round. There are 8or 10 players per round so the competition is stiff. There should be a packet of info in your room when you get there. Any other questions just ask. I'll try to help.

Winecruiser Posted October 1, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 1, 2014 We are in one on the Getaway sailing of December 6. I'll try to post the info here but not sure if it will work. If if doesn't, try to google or use NCL's search function to get the info. They are always fun! http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/casinos-at-sea/tripleshot-terms

It does not have the Gem slot tournament info, likely because they were just added but it certainly gives me an idea of what to expect.
