Richchas Posted October 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2014 Any recent cruisers been snorkeling in the Bahamas? Would like to get some experiences from anyone who snorkeled in Freeport in 2013 and 2014 who: -went on the Carnival tour -did it on their own -best location -get land trans to a beach VS. catamaran to the reef -lunch, drinks etc. I have read lots of threads, looked at tourist boards and found independent tour operators and prices........ just trying to get a feel from recent travelers. Thanks.
Armedaneian Posted October 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 3, 2014 It's been over a year, but we've gone to Paradise Cove a few times. http://www.deadmansreef.com/ It's the only place that has good snorkeling from shore, and it's the only thing I want to do while in Freeport... besides stay on the ship. ;) The first time we went, I wrote a review and posted some pictures: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1629317&highlight=armedaneian
Mr.Sunshine Posted October 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2014 I was in Freeport beginning of September. Went to paradise cove. Best snorkeling in Freeport. E-mail them in advance and they will pick you up at your ship. Very reasonably priced. Good facilities w/so food. I've been there a half dozen times and I look forward to it every time. Mr.Sunshine Posted October 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Yes deadmans reef is where I always go. I mixed up paradise cove and deadmans. They are next to each other. E-mail deadmans and they will pick you up. (Free) They have wet suits for rent and gear if you need it. When I was there in September the water was a little chilly so I wore my wet suit. Very comfortable . Have fun Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Armedaneian Posted October 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Yes deadmans reef is where I always go. I mixed up paradise cove and deadmans. While the names are used somewhat interchangeably, Paradise Cove is the name of the resort you visit, and Deadman's Reef is the name of the underwater structure you snorkel around. ;)
