hihello Posted October 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2014 Sorry if this question has already been asked. This will be my first time going there. When we get off of the ship, is there a beach right by? I've been reading and apparently there is nothing? I've thought of just doing the 'beach day' Carnival has listed as an excursion. Is it ok? Thanks!
MarkSeattle Posted October 5, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) The area around the Belize port seemed pretty sketchy late last year. I wouldn't try to walk anywhere from there. I'd take a cab, van, or ship excursion to my destination. Roatan and any Mexico destinations wouldn't bother me at all; and I'd probably even head out on foot in Jamaica first since its a straight shot to the beaches if that helps put things in perspective. --- This may have just been a bad time since we were one of the last groups getting back, but our guide also said as much, and it was at the end of the tour, so he was not trying to sell us on his tour or anything... Jen1000 Posted October 5, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2014 We walked around just outside the port after our excursion returned and it is fine. However, there is not much there but some shops and a hotel and the water front, no beach. Take an excursion in Belize, there are some great things to do. If you just want to go to the beach, do it at another port. Sorry if this question has already been asked. This will be my first time going there. Thanks! To be candid, there are not 'pretty' beaches as in Coz, Ochie and Georgetown. I took a cab to the "best beach" that did not take > one hour and found the sand to be mostly dirt and muddy water (think lake not beach). There was a bar and a volley bar court, but it was not the fun I have in Coz and other ports/islands.
wrigley80 Posted October 5, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2014 If you're looking for the beach in Belize you won't really find it here. You would definitely have to do an excursion
OCruisers Posted October 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2014 For beaches in Belize you'll need to go to one of their barrier islands which will require a tour/boat ride. LuLu
