NotACruiserYet Posted October 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Is it possible on Carnival to get an interior room for four without uppers? I'd like a fold out sofa if possible. What category is that? Can't figure out how to find it on their website!

tandtmk04 Posted October 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2014 The floor space is so limited.... I'm guessing no, but not sure. I'm in an interior room and requested 2 uppers due to no floor space. I'm sure if you call Carnival, they can help you.

You would have to be booked in a 5 person, cancel one person at a time when there weren't anymore 4 person cabins in your category. Or you could book a 4 person with an uppper and lower, and request a roll away. Either way would take a bit a research and planning. SadieN Posted October 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) There are some suites on the Fantasy class ships that use a pullout sofa bed for passengers 3&4. There are a few ships that allow rollaways to be brought in-- All Fantasy class and a few others built before 2000. Fantasy class OV do not have a sofa. On the others check to see if they have a sofa. Edited October 9, 2014 by SadieN
wrigley80 Posted October 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Check out the deck plan for your ship. There are some room configurations with a pull-out sofa bed and one upper
amcjeep4life Posted October 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 10, 2014 The fold out sofas only turn into a single bed. Not a double, or anything big enough to sleep more than one person.
k2excursion Posted October 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Not for interiors, way too small. There's no space for a sofa. With other room types, there are options. You will need a room that has a double sofa bed. Carnival does have some of those, although they are quite limited. The single sofa beds (much more common) are only 33" wide, only enough for 1 person. And they are not a pull-out! The seat of the sofa becomes the bed, so don't be deceived into thinking that 2 can sleep on those. And there are no true interiors that have any kind of a sofa, because the rooms are quite tiny. However, the double sofa beds are wide enough for 2, and that is a pull-out. These are in limited supply, and you will most likely have to get a Grand Suite. But not all GS have the double sofa bed. Choose carefully. On deck plans, look for the cross symbol in the room. I think all Carnival ships will have these types of rooms in Grand Suites, except Spirit class. There are also a few ships that have scenic OV rooms up on deck 9, in the very front of the ship, that have a double sofa bed. These rooms are extremely popular and get booked up very fast. Sunshine and most of the Conquest ships have these. There is 1 more option that is not as expensive. But it can only be done on Triumph, Victory, or Sunshine. These 3 ships have oceanview rooms that use a single sofabed (the one that's not a pullout) for the 3rd person. Typically, the 4th person is in an upper bunk, but some of their rooms will instead put the 4th person in a trundle or rollaway. It doesn't look like any of these ships have this setup for a balcony, except in some of the suites. These 3 ships are the only ships that use rollaways/trundles and also have sofas in the OV & balcony rooms. Sometimes, OV rooms are not much more expensive than interiors, so you should look into this option. These 3 ships plus the 8 Fantasy class ships can all use trundles/rollaways. You could book an interior for 3 and put the 4th in a trundle/rollaway. But there's no way to bring in a 2nd trundle/rollaway; not nearly enough floor space. So 1 person would have to sleep in an upper, or put 3 of you on the king bed. Or get 2 cheap interior rooms, which is available on any ship. virginiab Posted October 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2014 I suspect that generally your cheapest option for four beds on the floor will be to get two interior cabins, which will also give you two bathrooms.
