Early saver not necessarily best for categories with few cabins?

Ok, since I asked about change fees...

You pay the fee to what? Change to a same category room? But no fee to upgrade? When would you have to pay the $50 fee associated with ES changes?

Confused.. Lol

There are no change fees for upgrades. The only fees associated with ES are with cancellation (either dropping a person from the cabin, changing the name of a person in the cabin, or cancelling the cabin outright. If this sounds confusing you may want to go to the Carnival website and read up on the FAQs. That way you get the answer from the horse's mouth instead of people's interpretations of the rules.

That makes sense. I had read conflicting info here so was curious :)

You're mixing two different points.

ES is about saving money. Anyone can upgrade for any reason at any time. Completely different animal.

Point 1: People wanting to lower their final payment or requesting OBC are supposed to price match against same cat, same people, same ship. If you are not price matching against the same you are not allowed OBC or final payment reduction (some may sweet talk themselves into it but is not allowed by Carnival ES rules).

Point 2: Anyone at any time can request an upgrade whether they are ES or not. ES has nothing to do with upgrades.

That's a purist interpretation.

If you combine point 1&2 into one transaction, then you have the scenario, where you upgrade AND get OBC after final payment.

After final pmt, you can not upgrade at no charge because there is no price protection after final payment.

If ES was available, you could have booked under ES, then once your booking was locked in, submitted the price match to the Casino rate and still be Early Saver for any future price drops. I have done this before with no issues. I always book ES through my PVP to start (if it is still being offered) and price match later. Booking direct with Carnival, you can submit your own price matches and avoid the 3rd part delays.

on a side note.....

EARLY SAVER is not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be if you know when you want to cruise and which ship.

What complicates it, is when

- people blindly book vacations

- don't have their time off confirmed

- have sketchy cabin mates that cancel

- book with that boyfriend or girlfriend they break up with later

- #1 PROBLEM, is they DON'T READ THE ACTUAL CARNIVAL RULES and accept what they read on these forums by people that guess and assume what the rules SHOULD be.

-

I think the Casino Rate is still showing on VIFP...thank you for the info..I may check into it..;)

Has nothing to do with interpretations (unless you are Bill Clinton of course). They are the rules, as written and have been posted here.
