Celebrity v Princess?

IT's impossible to compare Celebrity ships to Princess without noting which ship class one is referring to. THe older M class ships (Summit) are closer in style to the older Princess ships, being more traditional in feel. The newest 5 ships (s class) are what I would describe as "hotel hip". Meaning not the tradtional brass and wood. Not neon, but more sleek and modernistic. Spacing/room for passengers is excellent on the larger new X ships. Staterooms very nice and bathrooms planned out well.

Food is subjective. And can vary from ship to ship within a line too. We've had good and not so good on each line. Haven't been able to make a generalization yet as one being so much better. Things like warmth of food and service are not subjective and should have been addressed at the time if problematic.

We are open to cruising HAL, Princess, X and Oceania. (O having the highest quality of the group for sure. But not considered as mainstream as the others)

I bet they were done just right in their $40-50 pp upscale restaurants!;) In order to make the dining experience more special in the upscale restaurants they have lowered the quality in the MDR. It's all about the Benjamin'$.

This is why all the cruiselines offer the specialty dining options. Years ago, they weren't an option. Now it is how to keep everyone as satisfied as possible, on as little money as possible.

Obviously if a steak is prepared for 200 cruisers, it will not be as "personalized" as when prepared just one of 50. Convention/wedding reception food never tastes as good, or is as well prepared as when you eat in a restaurant. Cruise on an upscale ship of 500 or less and I'll tell you the food is memorable. Not just satisfying.
