is it possible for my family (4 people) to dine alone? (not have to dine with other people)

Most likely not. You can request a small table, but won't necessarily get it.

Yes. Ask your travel agent to request a small table. When you get on the ship, go to the dining room. Check out your table to make sure it is for 4. If not, talk to the maitre d'. They are very accomodating if you ask early and not when you are about to sit down to dinner.

We requested a small table with our travel agent and told him that we would prefer a table for 2- and that's just what we got:D

 

So it can happen. It does depend on a couple of things (eg. we wanted late seating which was the less popular choice on our cruise) and you should go check with the maitre d' as soon as you get on board to see what you got and try to change it if it was not to your liking.

Yes you can request a small table. We did it on RCCL and got our table for 2, as requested. We have requested a table for 4 on our next cruise.

You can go to the dining room when you get there to see if you have been assigned a table for four. If not, you may ask for another table by yourselves.

 

We have always enjoyed our tablemates. It is part of the fun of cruising. We see each other all year long, and look forward to meeting other people on a cruise.

 

At any rate, give it a shot, you might be pleasantly surprised at the interesting people you may meet.

My wife and I will be on the Vision this October with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law and we have a table for 4.

We were at a large table and requested a table for the 4 of us on the Radiance and they not only gave us our own table but one right next to the window :D . Have TA request it, check once onboard and if you didn't get it ask then. They really do try.
