How do you "get into" the Carnival Player's Club?

How do they notify you of the low cost/free cruise? By mail, email, carnival log in? thanks

From what I have seen, all offers eventually show up when you log into Carnival with your account (linked to your VIPF number). If I get a premier cruise, casino, early saver, pack N go, etc., offer, all of them will show up in the list of available cruises with a little symbol showing a special offer available.

Depending on what search parameters you use, you may not see them all. For instance if you have an offer for premier cruises in December 2014 but do a search for cruises in 2015, you will not see the Dec 2014 premier cruises. Also be aware the site lists cruises least expensive first. So, you may have to scroll past the 3-4-5 day cruises which are usually less expensive than longer trips (or filter them out) to find specials for longer trips.

Basically, the emails or mailings you receive will let you know the details of cruise offerings so you can go online and set your search filters to be able to see the offers that might be otherwise lost in the pack.

Oh, and if you enter no parameters at all, any free cruises will be right at the top of the list since nothing is less expensive than free. :)

Before booking the Glory for May of 2013, I got an offer of $25 casino cash. It had been years since I sailed with Carnival.

On that cruise my mom got the Drinks on Us Card by playing slots. My sister, her girlfriend, and I all did not. We played the slots here and there but nothing serious.

My mom and I had our Oct 2013 cruise booked shortly after. We never received any casino offers but my sister and her girlfriend had. Even DH had offers. I had more cruises booked throughout the years as well so it had been a couple years since I was "booking free".

I truly think it's because we were booked on another cruise and they weren't. I know they say that's not the case as they are random. But I don't believe that for a second and Carnival will never convince me otherwise.

All the proof I need - I was booked with my mom for May 2015 on the Splendor. She paid for the deposit so it's in her name. Well we ended up canceling for certain reasons. It was ES so the future cruise credit is in her name. A few days after canceling guess what I got? A Casino offer!! My sister, her girlfriend, and DH have them too (as they always have). My mother, however, still does not. Coincidence that when I don't have a booking in my name and I get an offer?! I think not. I don't think my mom will get one either because they know she will be back within 2 years (unless she transfers that money to someone else).

Hope this makes sense.

I realize this might not be the case for the Premier cruises, but it certainly seems true for us small time gamblers. My conclusion - if you have a cruise currently booked, you are less likely to get a regular casino offer. If you aren't booked, they dangle the carrot in front of your face to get you back.

Question on the Players Club, Are you a new member everytime you go on a carnival cruise or are you remembered from the last cruise?

Thanks

Nobody answered this or the OPs question unless I missed it, but I would like to know on behalf of my sister who loves to gamble on the ship. How do you get in the player's club? Are you automatically enrolled after playing a certain amount? Or any amount? Is it a separate card and/or # or is the membership attached to your VIFP#? Do you have to fill out a form? I know the offers are random. Just trying to nail down how you actually become a Player's club member to begin with.

ETA: My sister plays slot and tables on every cruise has rooms booked in her name, and never gotten an offer. And I don't even know if she's a member of the player's club.

Yes and No... You are new in that your points start all over. BUT, if you accumulate 5000 or more points, then on your next cruise you will receive the 'Free Drinks Card' on day 1, you do not have to wait until you accumulate the 1500 points to get the Free Drinks in Casino Card.

The slots all use your S&S card so it gets automatically linked to your account/VIFP number. I don't play table games but from what I've read, you give them your card and you get rated. Don't know how all that works.

You will get the special offers online through your Manage my VIFP Club as well as email or mail. Make sure all your info is correct in your Profile and that you check the boxes to receive special offers by whichever way you prefer. There is nothing to fill out. Once you play on the slots, you are a member.

The casino staff also can send a letter to your cabin on the last sea day, saying 'this letter entitles you to a complimentary cabin'. It usually has to be booked within 14 days of completion of the current cruise, and you have to sail within a certain amount of time. (My last letter was good until end of January but we decided to do the Premier Casino Cruise instead since there was more Casino Cash and hubby also gets 'Drinks on us' card instead of just me on day 1. :D

I have received 2 regular casino offers, 2 premier cruise offers, and a host of other 3 day sale/Halloween event/packNgo/etc. offers even though I have a current booking. I could understand if the offers were for future time periods, but they are for the time period covering my current booking.

I conclude they have no single marketing effort, but many different marketing people who independently decide criteria for offers. That is why they all seem so random. The only group, according to anecdotal forum posts, that seems underrepresented in "premium" marketing offers are frequent cruisers...but that's a different bunch of posts. :)
