basser Posted October 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2014 How far is it from Progreso to the flamingo refuge. Is it doable by cab?
maldenmusic Posted December 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 16, 2014 Seems like it was about a 25 minute ride on the tour bus to go to the salt flats and the wildlife area where all the pink flamingos are. I'm sure you could take a cab there.
WomanWillSail Posted January 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Depends if you are talking about the Celestun flamingos or the occasional flamingos near Uaymitun, Chicxulub just out of Progreso. Celestun is a good 2 hour drive/ride from Progreso and getting back in time for the ship is tight, unless you take a cab off the pier immediately and go. The other place is, as the previous poster suggests, about a half hour ride out from Progreso, but it is not a preserve. Just a mangrove area where the flamingos come to feed.
