Bequia Posted August 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2005 I bought it on Amazon for $9 used but in new condition. Just started reading it this weekend....begins with the history of cruising and how it developed into what it is today. So far, pretty interesting. ;)
etoile Posted August 22, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2005 How does this book compare to Cruise Ship Blues??
bdb5853 Posted August 24, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 24, 2005 I just finished reading both these books. Devils on the Deep Blue Seas is a very interesting read. Detailed, but not overwhelming. When you read about the international workers and what their conditions are, you will be SURE to tip well. It's really an eye opener. Also the reasons why these ships aren't registered in the US. The other one, Cruise Ship Blues, is a very detailed read. I found it boring in places and had to skip some chapters. If you want to read every financial decision ever made by Carnival and RCI - then this is the book for you. I think every cruiser should be informed as to what REALLY happens behind the scenes on these ships. You might keep a closer eye on things if you knew what really goes on. bdb5853
