Verizon coverage

Has anyone used their Verizon phone recently on St. Maarten? If so what is the data like - an Verizon's map it shows 2G data on the Dutch side and 3G on the French - am wondering how well the 2G works for maps.

Thanks

And yes I am well aware of the costs involved with roaming - I have roamed in dozens of countries with my phone.

Used my Verizon phone in July when I was there for the week, but mostly on Wifi (not that difficult to find in the towns.) I'd download the maps and use offline, but roads are poorly marked and we found the maps to not be very effective. There are really only a few main roads and most of the things you'll be looking for are pretty easy to find with their own signage pointing you where to turn.
