iheartbda Posted November 15, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 15, 2014 The op lives in Florida. That's why I suggested waiting it out. They can wait it out but it's doubtful that a NYE cruise will come down. It's even possible that it could go up. I've had popular cruises go up after final payment. Rare LittleMissMagic Posted November 16, 2014 #28 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Like others have said, it's due to supply and demand. During the holidays when people are off work and children are out of school, expect to pay a premium. That being said, I have found that Royal Caribbean typically inflates holiday fares more than other cruise lines, so shop around... other lines like Princess, Norwegian, and Carnival might have better deals. And then your other option is to wait it out. The tourism industry wants to put heads in beds because getting guests there at a reduced rate is better than not having guests at all. So as the sail date gets closer, if they haven't booked so many rooms, they are going to lower fares to attract more consumers. Of course, it can be a gamble to wait it out, so get an idea of your odds by checking availability of different stateroom categories on several booking sites. dorisis Posted November 16, 2014 #29 Share Posted November 16, 2014 I checked several cruise lines and found one that is having a Florida resident sale with very low prices on inside and oceanview cabins.
