CarnivalPlatCruiser Posted November 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2014 Do you have one favorite tradition that you and/or your family does before or during your Carnival Cruise? For me, every cruise, we grab some hot coffee and doughnuts and head to the port at 4:00 am and watch our ship come in the morning of the cruise... We started on our first cruise when we couldn't sleep... 20 cruises later we still do it every cruise.. lol How about you? What's your cruise tradition? Do you have one? Taters Posted November 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 23, 2014 Our tradition is to get on board and have a drink! Hooray! We're here! FINALLY! Just 6 days 'til we board Miracle for 22 nights. I am stoked.
Cruise-Crazy Posted November 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 23, 2014 A Cheeseburger and a Funship special as soon as I get on board :). Have to try for the first burger off the grill. :D
Joanne G. Posted November 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 23, 2014 We are 2 women of a certain age - who bring our Funship Freddys along on our Carnival cruises. :D Actually, if we go on any other line, the Freddys are still coming along. Since we don't live near each other, throughout the year we exchange photos of what our Freddys have been doing. Here is mine keeping me company on a business trip. :p

Muumuu Posted November 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 23, 2014 As soon as I hang up the phone from booking it with my PVP I get on computer and do our on line check in. Makes it seem more official with that done and able to view it.
ccruisequeen Posted November 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 23, 2014 Wake up in my condo to watch the boat come in. Wash hair and dress. Tags on luggage, drive to port, keeping the ship in sight, check in at VIP, where they say weren't you just here? I still cruise for Warm Chocolate Melting Cake (with 2 sugar-free vanilla ice-creams)
stargate fan Posted November 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2014 Do you have one favorite tradition that you and/or your family does before or during your Carnival Cruise? I try to watch the original Poseidon Adventure and Titanic before every cruise. Seriously! :D
2-laner Posted November 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2014 I try to watch the original Poseidon Adventure and Titanic before every cruise. :eek:Seriously! :D I'm impressed! Not too sure I could do that and still set out on my balcony in the middle of the night without wondering if this is when the ship does a nose dive or belly's up.:)
2-laner Posted November 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 23, 2014 We traditionally have hot chocolate with our dessert each evening. Plus, getting up in the middle of the night and set out on the balcony to watch the night skies over the dark ocean. A few members of the family have even been known to fall asleep out there and wake to a beautiful sunrise.
olcar Posted November 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 24, 2014 Always start with the funship special and catch sunsets on the balcony.
just4steven Posted November 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 24, 2014 I found it really simple and fun to make animal art out of the toilet paper! Actually, the only thing I can make is something that looks sort of like a ghost. You just pull off a bunch of tp, start rolling a ball at the top, then do some twisting on the bottom and have a Sharpie with you to create some eyes and you are DONE! I leave them all over my room and of course every chance I get in the public bathrooms. IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND IT IS ART!
Baymax Posted November 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) The below image is a little creepy to me. Knowing an adult buckled up the doll and gave it printed directions only worries me. Sorry. Edited November 24, 2014 by Baymax
Remus2010 Posted November 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 24, 2014 We buy a shot glass and a Christmas ornament from every ship and every port. So when we put up our tree we remissness:rolleyes: about the ports.
bradboy Posted November 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted November 24, 2014 When we're ready to end our day we head back to the cabin and order chocolate chip cookies and milk then take them out on the balcony. Our son thinks it's the best time ever. He's always ready after the show to head back Sent from my iPhone using Forums
092306 Posted November 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted November 24, 2014 We listen to Jimmy Buffet songs on the way to the port. Rain or shine, it gets us in the cruising mindset.

mollynmax Posted November 24, 2014 #21 Share Posted November 24, 2014 Even though we are only 1 hour from the Port of Galveston, we ALWAYS drive down the day before the cruise, stop at Pappas Seafood off I-45 S at Webster, and have a nice lunch. Then drive down to Galveston, check into our hotel, grab a trolly down to the Strand, and enjoy the afternoon. Back to the hotel, and a light dinner & bedtime. Catch the shuttle to the Port, and board as soon as we can. Take the required boarding photos, & to Lido for the first DOD and some lunch. Wait for cabins to be opened & settle in. Go back to Lido for sail away!!! 13 days out, and cannot wait!!! :p

Not too sure I could do that and still set out on my balcony in the middle of the night without wondering if this is when the ship does a nose dive or belly's up.:) Because of those two movies, I know the following: If the ship is hit by a rogue wave: 1) Make my way to the bottom, which is then the top. The hull is only two and a half inches thick in one spot. 2) Don't listen to an officer who tells us to stay put, follow the clergy. 3) Wear underwear under my gown. I never know when I have to climb a Christmas tree. If the ship hits an iceberg: 1) Follow the rats!
