Coki Beach-Getting There

Wife and I have been to St Thomas several times. We will be there again aboard the Jewel, on the Feb 7th sailing. We think we would like to go to Coki beach. Here is the problem. We have tried to get a taxi just outside the cruise terminal and no one would take just the two of us. They seem to want a group! This happened when we wanted to go to Sapphire beach. Any suggestions?

Understandable why they want to fill it up so they make more money, but can you try to attach to a group? We have found the open air taxis told them where we want to go and they either point us to one filling up for that beach or they find others to fill up ours. You may have to wait a bit, but not usually too long. We are planning to go back there in Jan. Can't wait! :)

We are going to be in St. Thomas 12/17 8-4, interesting in exploring on our own and heading to Coki beach...how much are the open air taxis and where would we find them? Thanks!

Shared taxi to Coki Beach is 9.00 p/p each way. Walk through the shopping area towards the road, just follow the taxi signs.

We were just there in November. We were told it would be $9/pp for a taxi to Coki too. We walked beyond where the taxis were to a bus stop. We did ask a couple people to make sure we were going to the right spot. ;-) We took the 'bus', which was like an open-air taxi. Told the driver we wanted to go to Coki and it was $2/pp. There were 5 of us, so it saved us $35 each way! The bus does make several stops along the way, but it was still well worth it for us, and it added to our adventure. ;-) I will mention that a taxi will take you right up to the beach, whereas the bus drops you off at the road which is maybe a 10-15 minute walk to Coki.

Just keep in mind there may be foul language, arguments, route changes, unexpected discharges, liquor drinking, and pot smoking on public open air. Not all the time, but it does happen.

Taxis are a more safe and predictable experience for the most part, but more costly for those reasons.
