siegel Posted December 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2014 We are very close to finalizing plans for what will be our first SS cruise (Alaska to Vancouver) and only second cruise ever. Can anyone provide feedback on the Royal Suite 2-BR configuration? Specifically suite 602? I am concerned about being so far forward with regard to motion but understand that this is where the space comes from. Is it more likely than not that motion will be an issue? Also I have read that view is less than ideal; any comments specific to this suite? Thanks and I cannot say enough about the education that I have received from this site alone! duct tape Posted December 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2014 Yes, it in the bow. Yes, there will be lots of motion in rough sea. It is a hike from the lobby. Yes, it is lovely and comfy. Your call. Enjoy!
siegel Posted December 10, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Are there really "rough seas" on an Alaska cruise (SB)? I know it's not all flat interior water but compared to sailing the Caribbean I would think the difference in seas would be significant....am I wrong about that? KaraokeQueen Posted December 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2014 If you are mostly in the inside passage, it will be a much more comfortable ride. The bow always has the most motion. Some people like that :)
annbeth Posted December 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2014 We have been on the Shadow suite 601 many times. There can be some motion but the Royal and Grand suites are perfect! Worth the bumpy ride! Hoe you have a wonderful time.

UKCruiseJeff Posted December 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Can you tell me if you dropped anchor while in 601? If so how bad was it? Thanks so very much! We've been in 801 and found ourselves sitting on the shelf in the bedroom during much of docking to see what is going on. Arrivals and departures are great from those windows. There is noise from bow operations ... no doubt. But on the plus side the view forward you get in the #01 and #02 is unique and this combined with feeling exclusive because there is no passing traffic to us far outweighed everythibg. The lower suites had a less good forward view and would be noisier than the upper ones. Enjoy whatever you choose. Jeff
