2ashevillesailors Posted February 26, 2015 #26 Share Posted February 26, 2015 (edited) We are arriving to Amsterdam in July on the Oriana. Is it possible to see all of the important sites on foot and on your own. We want to see Anne Frank house, one museum, flower market, red light district. We were thinking of taking an afternoon tour of the country to see windmills, cheese factory and clog maker. Can the walking tour on our own be done in the morning so we can take an afternoon tour for the outskirts? Has anyone done the walking tour and how did they do it? What is the best tour for the outskirts? We are docked overnight and we plan to do a canal tour after dinner You can order online tickets to Anne Frank House, go to their site and go to the date you want to go, you can print out your ticket. You don't have to wait in a line as there is a special door on the side and walk right in with your ticket, not wait in lines for a couple of hours. You can do That Dam Guide site, it is about the dams for the canals. He, Mark is #1 guide in Amsterdam for his walking tours, excellent reviews, he also does a tour at night at 7:00pm to the Red Light District, people said it was a great tour. When you go to the Anne Frank House you are at the edge of the neighborhood of Jordaan district, very good area to visit. Also this is close to the canal trips. Get Rick Steves book on Amsterdam, great ideas and good walking maps. Edited February 26, 2015 by 2ashevillesailors
Kiwidebbie Posted February 26, 2015 #27 Share Posted February 26, 2015 The weather was cool. Light jackets needed. A little rain. Gray skies most days, but then, we were only there 3 days. Thanks only about 3 days for us too, later Nov.
