VickiVSN Posted April 6, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Hi All, I'm taking a cruise out of San Diego in September and wanted to double check. Do I bid on Downtown to be close to the pier? Also, any other Priceline suggestions for this area. klreisig Posted April 14, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Hi Vicki, The San Diego Crusie Ship terminal is located downtown. The closest hotel is the Holiday Inn on the Bay. The pier is labeled "W B ST" on the Map. There are many other hotels in the area. Go here for a listing of some of the hotels in the downtown area. I have links to there web site, local phone number, address with a link to a map, indication of free shuttle service, and distance to airport. Another area to try is the Point Loma area. And also the Old Town area. If priceline doesn't work I've been told by other cruisers that good prices can be had by using the "Entertainment Book" Ken kenmary65-cc@yahoo.com San Diego Ambassador volunteer http://www.sdambassador.com 1/1 2010

luvronijean Posted April 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Vicki, We are staying at the Manchester Hyatt this weekend in San Diego. We were able to get it on Priceline for $80 per night. I was told that it's a few blocks away or a 10 minute walk from the pier. Veronica
klreisig Posted April 16, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2004 $80 for the Grand Hyatt is an excellent price. Way to go. They have a lounge on the 40th floor where you can get a great view. VickiVSN Posted August 9, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Update - I just got 3 rooms for 9/25/2004 at $60 each through Pricelines at the Holiday Inn Harbor View. On-line reviews of the 2 1/2* hotel are mixed, but the price and location cannot be beat.
Dave King Posted August 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2004 I noticed you had mentioned the Holiday Inn on the Bay and the Holiday Inn Harbor View. These are two different hotels. On the Bay is across the street from the piers and the Harbor View is about 2 blocks off the bay. Both are very nice hotels. On the Bay has outstanding views from the upper floors. Enjoy your cruise. I've emailed offline, but perhaps other CC'ers would be interested in any answer to our question: We are arriving SD at about 8:30 in the morning, but our Legend of the Seas cruise does not leave until 8 PM. We will be tired from the red-eye flight, and are interested in the possibility of a day room at a hotel that can transport us from the airport and to the cruise pier. The date of arrival is Sunday, December 12th. So far, our attempts to directly contact the hotels near the cruise port have been met with dis-interest, or just plain "no". So, do you know of any of the hotels that offer day rooms? Thanks for any assistance you (or CC posters) can offer.
Bengoshi Posted December 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2004 The Holiday in which is right across the street from the San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal is the Holiday Inn - On the Bay; 1355 North Harbor Dr.; San Diego, CA 92106; (619) 232-3861. The 800 number is 1-800-HOLIDAY. Ask for an upper story bayside room and you'll be able to see the sunset the evening before you sail, you'll be able to your ship come in the day you sail. Luvronijean, that $80 price for the Grand Hyatt was a great deal. See if you can do it again in October, 2005!
dmk Posted December 24, 2004 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2004 We got Holiday Inn Harbor View for $49.00 on Hotwire. This is for a stay in Feb. 2005.
cdkempton Posted April 28, 2005 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2005 I just booked the Holiday Inn for our cruise leaving 12/17. We are arriving a day ahead. We have toured San Diego before and just wanted a relaxing night and morning before boarding. The wonderful restaurant "Anthony's" is right across the street and the hotel itself has 3 restaurants so no need to rent a car. Since you're only a short distance from the airport (a$10 taxi or hotel courtesy car) and you're right across the street from the terminal, IMHO it's the perfect place to stay. We booked a room with bay view for $135 + tax. The only drawback would be if you had to cancel. That is the non-refundable online booking price. We'll keep our fingers crossed that nothing comes up to cause us to cancel our Christmas cruise. :)
