Rental Car at Port Everglades

We have a late flight out of FLL and would like to rent a car at the pier that we could return to FLL before our flight home. Has anyone done this? Will a shuttle pick us up at the ship and take us to the car? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Port Everglades and FLL are adjacent. The rental cars are now located in the new Car Rental Center, which is a large parking garage in the middle of the airport terminals. Easiest way is to just take a taxi (approx $10) over to the airport and pick your car up there.
