JC1026 Posted January 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Thoughts? I am booking a cruise for September 2015 from Baltimore, 7 days to Florida/Bahamas to give as a gift to my parents for their 60th birthdays. For 2 the current early saver price is $1303 with taxes and fees included. Good price? I know its a guaranteed lowest price but in the past I have booked it and then an outside guarantee room price was available for cheaper and I couldn't change it because I picked my room Edited January 16, 2015 by JC1026

Price looks fair, but it is still a long ways out.
SNJCruisers Posted January 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) The cruise you're picking for your parents has the worst 3 ports that Carnival goes to IMHO. There is not a whole lot to do in any of the ports. In Nassau you could walk around parts of Atlantis, Freeport is an industrial area and Port Canaveral has Cocoa Beach and maybe an excursion to the Space center. I would look into the Grandeur of the Seas, also going out of Baltimore and you have 6 day trips to Bermuda for 1274 (9/11) or 8 day trips to Canada & Maine for 1582 (9/3). These prices were from their website, you could possibly do better. I'm 54, been lucky enough to have cruised 25 times and I would choose either of the RCI cruise options over the Pride. Good luck. I'd stick with the Pride. It was just refurbished last fall with 2.0 upgrades. I however agree that the stops on that particular itinerary are less than stellar. You may want to consider the other sailing the Pride does to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Freeport.
JC1026 Posted January 17, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted January 17, 2015 I know they aren't the BEST however my Aunt lives in Port Canaveral (my mom's sister) so they would get to spend the day with her since they don't get to see her very often. However, I will look into the other cruises! Thanks for those suggestions. However, the last time they cruised was about 10 years ago and they don't go away very often so I am sure any place where is better than no where :)

My husband and I are in our 60's and LOVE the Pride! We are going in March for the 6th time to sail on her. We have done the Florida route twice and there really isn't much to do. We usually stay onboard in the FLA port and enjoy a much less crowded Serenity pool. In Nassau we go over to Atlantis and have lunch and walk around. We have also taken a cab to the restaurant Twin Brothers and had lunch. In Freeport we have taken a cab and gone to Port Lucaya and to the little casino over there. This is a wonderful gift for your parents...I wish my kids would send us on a cruise LOL
