NCL Pearl & Beer

A beer snob can get his usual Bud Light or Coor's Light.

A Beer Geek can pretty much get nothing that is satisfying.

Cruising and good beer don't make good bedfellows.

In case there is confusion, beer snob and beer geek are totally different animals.

I've never heard of bud or coors drinkers as being snobs. I would think that's reserved for Blue Moon, Sam Adams, or another quasi-craft where the drinker thinks they are being unique. lol

I would hope that they offer something other than bud swill or miller products. I am prepping myself already with some Alaska Brewing company ale that is quite good

Excuse me, please. I guess I am traveling with a beer GEEK then. I hope I didn't offend anyone... ;)

:) Naww. What's offensive is the beer list on a ship.

Seriously, it is horrible. Tell your beer geek to prepare to be underwhelmed.

The Alaska itinerary has been reported as having a brew from Alaska Brewing.

This isn't a fleetwide offering.

The New Orleans departure doesn't even have anything from Abita.

The best the New York departure could think of was Brooklyn Brewery Lager.

Apparently they cannot understand that Light Lager isn't particularly exciting.

Nope. The Beer Snob is the one who only drinks some particular brand they are loyal to.

We're sailing out of Miami so I don't know where that leaves us beer-wise. So far it's sounding like a rum & Coke cruise!

Out of Miami last year they couldn't even throw Presidente at us.

It's swill but it's from the area. Sorta.

Oh yeah...... No Coke. Pepsi.

Have a Painkiller.

Thank you for this, RetiredBird! This is helpful. Maybe I'll just pack a pocketful of hops for him to chew on!

The only hope you have, going from Miami, is that the Getaway introduced local Wynwood Brewing Co. beer last year on board...ok, it was only their blonde, and it was only available in some bars on board. BUT, the Escape has unveiled a huge partnership with Wynwood that will bring more of their lineup on board. So MAYBE the Pearl will also reap some rewards with this partnership.

As a craft beer fan, for our past cruises, we just go in knowing that we'll likely need to be happy with the Sam Adams, Bass, Newcastle, and Guinness. We about fell over with happiness when we found the Wynwood on the Getaway. But for our Jan. 2016 cruise on the Escape? Expectations raised.

We're doing the Escape as well, partially for that reason. I'm fine drinking SA seasonal all week (especially since it'll be Winter lager during our cruise), but am really looking forward to the first pics of the on-tap list at The District.

It looks like it's $3.00 for soda and on average $6.00 for beer, when the butler keeps your refrigerator stocked in your suite.

I realise that the "average" price is $6.00. I was looking for a detailed list by individual beer as you did with the Alaskan beers. By the way, there is no way I would ever consider a suite, as I find the idea of having a butler to be abhorrent.

Hey you can have your opinion and I can have mine, we'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary while we're on this cruise. So why not splurge...... AND the wife won't know we're booked in a HAVEN suite until we get to the ship. Surprise.... Surprise....
