cage keeper Posted January 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2015 [/b This will be our first time to GSC. I read that they have a snorkel trail, is this only available if you do the excursion? Or can anyone do this? Is the excursion with a group or is this on your own and the cost is just for the equipment? We plan on bringing our own gear and hope to hit the adult beach. Any suggestions would be helpful. Most likely the only time we will get off the ship on this cruise. Joni
cb at sea Posted January 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2015 An "excursion" will be with a group. You can snorkel on your own, but probably not in the "excursion" area.
all_aboard Posted February 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2015 You can snorkel with your own equipment in the same area, you must rent a vest for $5 if you don't have one.
tidygirl Posted March 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2015 Where is the area on the island? Any easy ways to find it? We are debating doing a cruise with a stop there and trying to find what we can do. Not much of a sit on the beach do nothing all day. Is there much of an area we could take a good long walk? Rare rjm11 Posted March 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 26, 2015 The snorkeling area is straight out off the main beach- you can't miss it. And you can take your own equipment (or rent theirs) and go by yourself- absolutely no need for an "excursion" for that, unless you felt more comfortable with a group. It's really very good snorkeling too. The island is quite big- lots of opportunity for walking- just walking all the way to the lagoon area (opposite end of the main beach) took about 15-20 min doing it leisurely. I hear there are also some trails to other parts of the island but we didn't take them. It's really nice- one of our favorite stops.
