Activity Managers onboard Royal Ships

For the life of me I can't figure out why having a particular Captain, Cruise Director, or Activities Manager matters.

 

Ken Rush was the worst cruise director I've ever had- did it effect my enjoyment?

Cruise Director, Activities Manager, etc aren't going to ruin our cruise but they can make it better. On Adventure last year, we really enjoyed Tino (AM), Bobby Brown (CD) was good as well. Interesting that those commenting that they don't care about who the CD or AM are and they open this thread.

As you point out I have to wonder why someone would bother opening a thread they admit is on no interest to them.

 

To your other point I would agree with you that a CD or AM is not going to ruin a cruise for me, but they can have a very positive impact on it. The CD is responsible for setting up the schedule of activities and making sure that they all run well. They should be visible around the ship as well. They have hosting responsibilities many of the events/shows, and then their assistant the AM is out and about between hosting other activities, walking around the ship mingling with cruisers and keeping the buzz onboard going.

 

As in anything some have a greater impact than others. I personally have had great cruises and realize it takes work and a great deal of it, to keep thousands of guests entertained.

 

For those that have no interest in knowing who is onboard it is just fine that they don't read this thread.

****Anthem OTS – Christopher John Hopkins is onboard now until early July.

 

****Brilliance OTS – Alison Currie returned on 11/2 November possibly for a 4 months contract. Looking to confirm that she is on the ship for a normal month contract. If someone could ask her that would be wonderful.

 

****Empress OTS – Cecy del Razo will be AM when Empress sails and this came directly from Carlos Torres (the CD who will be taking out Empress).

 

****Enchantment OTS – Mosese Vutalko (Moe) has been reportedly been heard on Enchantment. Mauricio Diaz is expected to be on Enchantment when Enchantment sails from Miami, which coincides with when he returns from his vacation.

 

****Explorer OTS – Amy Tripp hands over to Andre Miller in mid March. Andre Miller takes over 3/17.

 

****Freedom OTS - Crusin Susan McColl is onboard as of January 10, 2016.

 

****Grandeur OTS – Katrina Blair March 12 until 7/16.

 

*****Harmony – Michele Scarpato has announced that he will be bringing out Harmony on her inaugural sailing.

 

****Independence OTS – Giovanni DiPasquale joined the ship on 2/27 and will be on until April 9. Waiting to hear who is going to be replacing him at that time.

Just got off Indy on Monday. I didn't get the activity director's name, but she's the short girl with short hair, that wears an I'M NOT SHORT I'M FUN SIZED shirt to the Quest. Or at least, she wore it last week as well as when we sailed on the Navigator back in 2011. She mentioned that was her first contract.

I'll be honest, I've never really given a thought as to who is Captain, Activities Director, Cruise Director, etc. on any ship. However, after my cruise on Vision a few weeks ago, I will actively seek out cruises where Elvis is the Activities Director or ships where Captain Marek is in charge. Both of them made a positive impact on my cruise enjoyment, and for that I am thankful.

Hugo was on my Allure cruise last November and I did think he was fantastic. Very friendly, high energy, wacky, he was great. I watched him host the Finish that Lyric Live! game, he hosted our M&M, we played a lot of Bingo and he was there for many of the games, he was great with Bobby on the morning show... I liked him a lot and would be pleased to see him on another of my cruises in the future. :)
