Madeira, Casablanca (Canary Isle Cruise)

Recommended Posts

Cruise port (near ferry port) is a bit of a walk to anything much in Funchal. We were there in September and if you walk maybe a few minutes you'll get out to where cabs are, near the ferry port. We didn't take one as we had lined up a 3 hour cab tour of part of the island, so i don't know how much they cost. However, there is a very long post about Funchal that you might find helpful. If you don't mind walking for maybe 20-30 minutes, I think the cabs away from the port and closer to the town of Funchal are supposed to be cheaper.

I would search for that post (something like, "I live in Funchal, can advice" by Biarria). I'd also go to tomsportguides.com and look at his guide for Funchal; his guides are great. There's also lots of info on Monte. You could always take the cable car up there, or a cab. There are buses too, but that gets more complicated.
