debnjoe1438 Posted February 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Going to spend a couple days before cruise in Vancouver. Looking at the Greenbrier Hotel. Could someone give me some information about this hotel and the area of town it's in. Thanks :):)
xlxo Posted February 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Location wise.... it's great along Robson street for restaurants. Kinda far from the subways, but not an issue for taxi's. Here's some reviews.... http://www.expedia.ca/Vancouver-Hotels-Greenbrier-Hotel.h41319.Hotel-Information Here's what the building looks like.... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Greenbrier+Hotel,+Robson+Street,+Vancouver,+BC,+Canada&hl=en&ll=49.287828,-123.129781&spn=0.000014,0.011855&sll=49.287892,-123.129767&layer=c&cid=6228129839843203743&panoid=b0V_ual8wMZbibDHjPxVzQ&cbp=13,60.31,,0,-15.64&hq=Greenbrier+Hotel,+Robson+Street,+Vancouver,+BC,+Canada&t=m&z=17&cbll=49.287828,-123.129781 Alternative traditional hotels are the Landmark and Blue Horizon nearby. Rare martincath Posted February 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2015 I'd throw Tripadvisor into the mix as well in terms of checking out opinions on any hotels - though always take a grain of salt along with 'one-review-wonders' and 'collected in partnership with the property' reviews. Living downtown I've stayed in very, very few hotels here, but I'd suggest that for the price the Greenbrier is charging (I plugged some random 2-night stays in cruise season into Expedia and got rates of $155-$170 a room per night) it is somewhat lacking in amenities compared to others costing similar amounts - and no elevator!? Unless you plan to spend all your time in the park or on a beach, a location nearer the east end of downtown will put more sites within an easy walk for you - Gastown, Chinatown, Yaletown as well as downtown shops. For anyone looking for bare-bones but safe, clean, practical I always recommend the YWCA hotel - very hard to beat their pricing without bidding blind on a hotel, and the location is very convenient. With elevators and also full-size communal kitchens, so you can easily save a few extra bucks by making even full meals on-site if you wish. Did book for $104.00 per night plus another 15% off with free cancelation. We have something booked with the option to change. :)
