hjlanda22 Posted August 31, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2005 Im not sure what BAD you might of heard but keep in mind...... MOST PEOPLE whom have good experince's harldy ever post reviews..... BUT THOSE WHOM have bad things happen to them OHHHH WATCH OUT they will try to find EVERY site and every place the can to tell you why that product might be bad.... I mean have you ever had some place TREAT you bad or simply have a bad experiance I know I have and I wanted everyone to know about it!! Right.... Keep in mind there are 2,000 cruisers on each sailing (about) and read how many reviews their are maybe 10! and out of those 10, how many are bad..... I know there is more than 10 but I am just putting an example for you..... AND alot of people go on the cruise with HIGH expectations of being a queen or king and getting EVERYTHING done NOW or PERFECTLY only to basically cause problems on themselves...... Not everyone but...... some..... Let me give this example...... This was a human lie detector test "how to tell if someone was telling a lie" A man asked 2 people about their vacation (one never went on vacation and one really had can you tell witch one) Question: Where did you go on vacation? Person #1 My family and I went to Disneyland? Question How was it? Person #1 It was GREAT! we had a wounderful time, we saw mickey and minnie and the light parade the kids had a great time and were so tired by the end of the night we left a little early because the kids and my wife and I were so tired. The next day we woke up to go and eat breakfast and drove around the city and cought our plane to come home. We had a great time and look forward to going agian. Person #2's vacation question Question: Where did you go on vacation? Person # 2 Disneyland Question: How was it? Person #2 The kids had a GREAT time! My wife and I go on some of the rides but for the most part the kids were SO excited and they ran us tired! The were tired at the end of the day CRANKY as heck, so we did leave 1 hour earlier as to beat the traffic and crowds. Disneyland was VERY crowded and we had truoble getting on the rides but the kids did not care they wanted to go on EVERYTHING. I dont think the wait time is worth the rides you go on but the kids could care less. The price to get in the park our way over priced.... But we do it because this was a day for our kids and we where happy to see them happy. Its amazing how much we go through just to make sure they are happy. We had lunch in the park and I might as well ate at a 5 star restarunt it was so pricey! But what are you going to do, LEAVE I mean that will take more time out of the day and you paid the price at the gate to get the most out of your day right! ALL in ALL we overall had a good time and the KIDS can't wait to go back! Now who is not truthful? Person number #1 is most likely not telling the truth Person number #2 is telling the truth because this person makes notes of the NEGITIVE things that happend on the trip! Why is this??? Well many vacationers or people rather simply do come in contact with situations and or things that happens that they dont like! ITS LIFE and people, when something amazing, extrodinary or BAD happens this should and will be included in the story. Think of any and all vacations you have been on and even your absolute BEST vacation EVER... Was there any "bad" part about it? Maybe a long line (ie getting on and off the ship in port, something you ate not agreeing with you, you felt uncomfortable in a situation somewhere, you overheard something or saw something or someone acting or speaking badly or rudely, even if not towards you) Those are the things people remember. Even my best vacation had a bad section even though it WAS THE BEST vacation I had ever had. Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to make a piont and hopefully I did that. Sometimes it is true that that person DID have a bad experience with it but on carnival you have better chances being hit by lighting (so they say) then you do at haveing a BAD time. IT WAS ON A GREAT SHIP and we were treated GREAT!

hjlanda22 Posted September 1, 2005 Author #9 Share Posted September 1, 2005 I read alot of questions about reviews and alot of them asking about if its so good then why am I reading bad reviews, I guess I did not make it CLEAR enough I suppose.......THIS IS THE ANSWER TO WHY YOU READ MOSTLY BAD REVIEWS.... DO YOU GET IT NOW OR NO?
lynyrd Posted September 1, 2005 #10 Share Posted September 1, 2005 No, not really. I personally like to share my positive experiences rather than my negative ones. I like for people to share in my happiness, not be miserable along with me. JMHO

Ekaj Posted September 1, 2005 #12 Share Posted September 1, 2005 I know what your point is, but I guess I'm wondering why you were so vehement, long and drawn out in your message, and somewhat irritated in your tone. You could have gotten the exact same message across by saying something like, "Hey everyone, keep in mind that most people on cruise ships are very happy with their experience, but the ones who are impossible to please are usually the ones that crow about it the most. So happy cruising!" ...or something similar.... A succinct point is usually a more effective one. Just a thought....
Ekaj Posted September 1, 2005 #13 Share Posted September 1, 2005 Almost forgot, Bonbon is right on. Most of us DO tell more people when we've had a bad experience than when we've had a good one. That said, I try to tell just as many people about my good experiences. Either way, I appreciate all reviews, good or bad. After all, if ALL of them were positive, what would be the point? A little constructive criticism can go a long way. If you read enough reviews about a business/cruise ship/restuarant, etc., you can usually get an idea about whether you'll like it or not. I find most reviews to be quite helpful. Some you take with a grain of salt, though, and you always have to listen for the tone of the reviewer to know whether they are the "impossible to please" kind, the "give me a shack in the desert and I'll be happy" kind, or something in between. cathyoo Posted September 1, 2005 #15 Share Posted September 1, 2005 When I share my experiences I do try to include the negative/bad. This comes from past experiences of telling folks about restaurants, plays, amusement parks, etc. I don't want (as has happened) someone to go there and be disappointed..."you didn't tell me there would be a half hour wait", you didn't tell me the bathrooms there are phone booths". I like reading the bad and the good then I know what to expect. On my first cruise, I was prepared for lines when we embarked and the occassional sewage smell was not a big surprise. A long time ago I worked at Sears Catalog Warehouse. Believe me, when someone got their order earlier than expected and correct, they rarely would tell anyone about that. But late or wrong... Their whole block would know. Some study showed that (on the average) when someone receives exceptional service they tell two people who don't tell anyone else. When someone receives bad service they (on the average) tell 6 people and those 6 people tell 4 people. So one bad contact can really harm a business. flyingb Posted September 1, 2005 #16 Share Posted September 1, 2005 :) You hit the nail on the head about negativity. I have cruised 14 times, 11 of them on Carnival and have ALWAYS had a great time. So everything isn't perfect but sure is close as far as I'm concerned. :D Your going to love the Pride, we (my husband) and I were on it in Jan. of this year. Fantastic! We are booked on the Glory March '06. Counting the days. ;) Luv's Cruisin'
CruiseFever Posted September 1, 2005 #17 Share Posted September 1, 2005 MOST PEOPLE whom have good experince's harldy ever post reviews I don't think so! I've never had a bad cruise and always post a review as do a LOT of others. Sorry, wrong.
MrPete Posted September 1, 2005 #18 Share Posted September 1, 2005 THIS IS THE ANSWER TO WHY YOU READ MOSTLY BAD REVIEWS.... DO YOU GET IT NOW OR NO? Not sure. Can we read your review from your cruise? I personally post total experience. Others do too. Then occasionally you read all bad written by someone full of anger (and usually end up pulled), and then others that are puff pieces (rare, IMO). Do you read reviews on the discussion boards, or in the review section? Again, point us to your review so we can see where you fall in.
