redredgirl Posted February 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I just booked our cruise on the Anthem out of Southampton for August through Expedia. We paid 3199 a person for a balcony room with a free tips promotion. I was checking the price on the RCI website and saw that even though the balcony room is advertised at 3199, you cannot book one for lower than 3549 a person. I tried calling them to see if we could benefit from the promotion, and the Brand Specialist seemed a little confused but said that we could without having to rebook, so I submitted the form and am keeping my fingers crossed. What are your experiences with this? Am I foolish for attempting to get some OBC from this?
Ken at the beach Posted February 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) If you paid 3199 and the price now is 3549 then you would not be eligible to receive any money or OBC. It is only if you book a cruise and the price drops within 48 hrs that you can claim any money. Edited February 11, 2015 by Ourusualbeach

What are your experiences with this? Am I foolish for attempting to get some OBC from this? I am a bit confused. If you booked for $3199 per person and free tips, why re-book for $3549 per person? The OBC would have to be $750 just to break even and that's not counting the reduction for free tips. When you take advantage of a new price, you are bound by those rules. Many times if there is a big OBC or "free drink package" etc. it's tied to something like "new bookings only." If so you may not be eligible for the added perks. You also have to consider any C & A Discounts you are eligible for as that may go away too. So I would tread lightly on this. I always use a TA and let her research the options for me. Then I can decide without inadvertently making an unwise change.
