klo Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 We are on the Constellation heading from Dover to Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petersberg, Talinn, Rostock and Copenhagen. By the looks of the map, the port side of the ship looks better than starboard. Can we see land or is it too far away?
aircraftace24 Posted April 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2004 For the vast majority of your trip, you will not see any land at all. This is one cruise where there are no great advantages to having a balcony, except for fresh air. The "approach" to Tallinn is particularly stunning, as is the voyage through the Stockholm archipelago. Noordam '02 Daphne '
msiowa Posted April 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2004 I would disagree that there's no advantage to having a balcony on this cruise. We got up in the morning and sat on our balcony as we entered Oslo and Stockholm and did the same as we left. Very beautiful. It was also really interesting entering entering and leaving St. Petersburg. It's very cold war industrial and we even floated by some subs. You could see all this from the deck, but we like to sit quietly, in privacy especially early in the maorning. We had lovely weather and our door was always open for that ocean breeze. It was great. Is a balcony a necessity? No. But it's nice! Happy sailing. Joanie

We sat in the Crow's Nest just above the bridge for the afternoon departures from Stockholm and St. Petersburg (and the submarines at Kronstadt). Good drinks, good company and a panoramic view. Our arrival in Stockholm was in the early morning darkness, unfortunately. We had breakfast in the Lido while arriving in St. Petersburg. What a magnificent cruise!
