Carnival Valor - Southern Caribbean ... Do we need passports for this cruise?!

I'm hearing mixed things about needing them and not needing them. Can someone please confirm? We leave out of San Juan...

Puerto Rico is US territory. So you don't need passport to fly to/from and you can use the almighty dollar.

HOWEVER if you miss the ship in any of the non-US ports you'll be in a fix. Can't fly back to US from foreign without passport.

Having a passport is a good idea for any traveling. I take, one anytime I fly, even domestically. But you are not required to have it for any closed loop cruise from a US Port. San Juan is a US port. (Assuming you are a US citizen of course.)
