Texasgalsa Posted February 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I'm hearing mixed things about needing them and not needing them. Can someone please confirm? We leave out of San Juan...

Puerto Rico is US territory. So you don't need passport to fly to/from and you can use the almighty dollar. HOWEVER if you miss the ship in any of the non-US ports you'll be in a fix. Can't fly back to US from foreign without passport.
lindfaz Posted March 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2015 I never travel without my passport. It is safer, gets you through lines quicker and is the best form of ID.
jwalk03 Posted March 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Having a passport is a good idea for any traveling. I take, one anytime I fly, even domestically. But you are not required to have it for any closed loop cruise from a US Port. San Juan is a US port. (Assuming you are a US citizen of course.) michiganredrose Posted March 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2015 No, you do not need a passport. We did this cruise last year with birth certificates and drivers license and had no problems at all.
